Art is Everywhere

I read
"Art should be everywhere
not sectioned off
in the rarified corners
of life"

do I believe that?

am I to look around
at all the items
I've collected
and see art there?

Those lamps we bought
at Target
in our first home together

the white kitty
night light my mom gave me
when I moved out of
one painful coupling
and she wanted to ease my pain

the stack of videos
taken of the kids
at various points
through the years
not realizing at
the time how
quickly everything
was passing by
and why was I so inpatient
and inflexible?

my black electric guitar
still standing for three years
relatively untouched
I bought it
when I was single
thinking I'd have all the time
in the world
all alone

these things are meaningless
without the eyes
I cast upon them

So there is potential
And there is possibility

a pregnant waiting

but not art

no
these profane things
are not art
but

somehow they are better

when attached
to memories and love
they can be transformed
into

sacred
holy
things.

I really enjoyed the perspective on this one.

when attached

holy
things.

So many people forget that your memories are your truths. And these things that are imbued with the memories of our past, they have the power to make us feel like anything... As long as we remember.
