WTF????!!!!

What's with HAVING to install StarDock to get an Icon Package???

I just cruise up to the site today and decide to look for a nice dark set of Icons for Icon Packager and when I find a set I like I hit download and instead of a download link popping up I get this stuff about registering to get a download....hmmmm....I just downloaded 3 W.B. skins a couple hours ago and didn't have to register but that's ok, I'll do it.

So I register and now it wants me to install Stardock?? What the $%&@ is this? I don't need Stardock just to install one Icon Package, I don't want Stardock on my machine period.

I'm on dialup, it's bad enough that it takes 45 minutes to an hour to download one set of Icons at 3 megs without getting forced into a [Expletive Deleted] 2 hour download of some stuff I don't feel I should have to have!!!

What gives with that??

Well, I went back to the Icon Package I had my eye on, hit download and signed in and it began downloading....w00t.

You guys need to fix that Stardock install stuff upon membership verification, it gives the impression that in order to download anything else you HAVE to install it first and that's just not cool.

At least I'm getting the Icons I had my eye on.

Citizen madmat_2001 ....'Stardock' is the company that created the proggy and provides this site.  It is not  something you 'install'.

SDC or 'Stardock Central' is an interface for accessing all of Stardock's related proggies and sites, etc, making updates, etc much easier to manage/install....and very much worth the dl time/space...

Uhh.. 3MB takes under 10 minutes to download on dialup.

depends on the dial-up.

mine's rural green acres style.

top connection speed - 26.4 Kbps

actual download avg speed - 2. kbps - as long as i don't peruse the web while waiting on the dl.
else it drops to <1 (been as low as 250bps)
