Windowblinds crashes explorer

I am having a problem with WB constantly crashing Explorer. When I right click a file either to drag and drop or copy a file then explorer crashes and refers to wbload.dll causing the problem. I thought it might be my anti-virus application so I put the Windowblinds directory as an exception in the scanning options but the fault still continues. I am using WB 4.51(204). Anyone any ideas ?

PB27,

If you are not running any other customization software (except maybe IconPackager) at the same time, and the problem is consistent each time you use right-click to copy/move - then you may want to consider these two items:

Note - this is assuming that the function works fine while in the default Windows theme.

(1) My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab > select "Launch folder windows in a seperate process" > click "Apply". I am not really sure this will solve the issue, it is just one way to help if having problems with "explorer.exe". Note - it will use more memory.

(2) Unload WindowBlinds > Save all skins to a temporary folder > return Windows to default theme, including all icons > uninstall WindowBlinds > reboot machine > delete the WindowBlinds folder (usually found in "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder, or "C:\Program Files\Object Desktop\Stardock" folder - where "C" is the letter drive) > reinstall WindowBlinds > test program > if all is well, copy or move the saved skins to the Windowblinds folder.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your suggestions - I will try them and see what happens. Unfortunately the problem occurs only randomly, not every time.

I'm having the exact same problem on both my desktop PC and laptop - random crashes of explorer.exe following double-clicks on either My Computer or My Documents, and occasionally on old Windows Explorer. Right-clicking the desktop has the same effect. Both machines run Windows XP SP2, fully updated, and have no other customisation software. WindowBlind is 4.51 (build 204). Is it a problem specific to this version? Have uninstalled and re-installed WindowBlinds to no avail - any other suggestions?

neouropod: do you have divx installed?

If so there is a bug in its explorer addin which causes your problems when combined with SP2.
