Sluggish Flyouts

Certain flyouts are acting quite sluggish. (Usually those with many icons) Is this caused by using PNGs instead of ICOs, or large PNGs?

Thanks

My guess would be:

(1) file size as a whole (parent folder contents), or as individual files.

-or-

(2) grapics issue trying to draw images and animate at the same time.

If you have folders that are "fast acting" and seem to work well - check the file size via "Folder Properties" to compare.

If the sluggish folders are much larger, you might try reducing to the file size of the "fast acting" folders, to enable a comparison test for performance.

If the flyouts improve after file size reduction, you know it is just that "File Size" - if not, probably a graphic/animation limitation of some sort.

Sorry I don't have a definite answer, just too many variables in the stated problem.

I don't how quit to clarify it more than I stated it, but I will detail it further.

I have a main bar with 5 flyouts on it. When clicking on the Games flyout, for example, the initial icon is slow, but not terribly so in reaching it's position. Once it does the additional application icons comeout at about the same speed. Not so slow it is unbarable, more so noticeable. As I didn't see any options to delegate how many icons appear from the flyout (Games has 9 out of 10 appearing), I was curious if file type (ICO vs. PNG) has any factor on how well it operates.

My system is pretty up to snuff ATI9800 Pro, 1GB RAM, AMD 2400.

The flyout menus don't seem to have a "folder properties" option to check what you are asking. Best I can guess you are refering to if I had flyouts for folder navigation, which is not the case. All of my flyouts are custom made by making lists. The deepest they take me is to select a drive, I can do the rest with explorer.

Thanks again for your help

Bumping because this issue needs attention from the developers.

I have the same exact problem. The initial icon flies out at a regular speed, then the other icons "unfold" at a completely unacceptable speed (It generally takes at least 5 to 10 seconds for the flyout to be usable). Once the icons "unfold", the flyout runs normally at a good speed.

My system's fine- Geforce MX 6600 GT, 1gb DDR Ram, Athlon XP 2600
