I’ve never ridden in a golf cart

or taken holy communion

and I never slept in a campground

or was the tallest adult in the room

or ever looked at myself
naked without an
involuntary shudder

or smoked a joint in the driveway
at a high school party

or wanted to serve my country through
the armed forces

or swam in the ocean

or been in a street fight

or jumped out of a plane

or joined a secret society

or won the lottery

or was interviewed by “Rolling Stone” magazine

or won an Academy Award

or fathered any progeny

or gone a single day without talking

or kept to a diet more than six months

or earned any merit badges

or slept with a beautiful stranger

or understood the mystery of birds
or roses
or the wind

and my life has been
none the worse for
any of these things.

An excellent poem. You really are quite talented.

The point is very well taken. Although we have never done special things, or even ordinary things, that does not make our lives any worse.

I, for example, have never hailed a cab.

Good work.

Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes, I don't need to know the answers...

I, for example, have never hailed a cab.

My dream is to dress up like Hitler one time and drive a cab so people will hail me...and then turn red and run away when they see my costume.

Okay...maybe I won't do that, but it'd be pretty funny wouldn't it?

Good article, by the way,
