Search function and Recent Documents

Search function and Recent Documents

HI,

I want to put the Search-function and (recent) Documents (directly) on a Dock. Those are the last items that still make me use the standard Taskbar and Start-menu.

Can anybody help me how to do this?

Is this THE Edmond "C!T" Varwijk??

Sorry if I'm telling you something you allready know but the Windows Search function you can access with the Win + F keycombo. I find that easier than a menuoption anyway.

I dunno about the Recent Documents 'cause I suppose you want to have a fly-out menu just like in the start-menu.

What I use is the Startmenu docklet created bij Andreas Verhoeven. From there you can access both the Recent Documents and the Search funtion.

Hope this is helpfull.

For the Recent Documents folder, just drag it to dock. (for XP this is normally located in "C:\Documents and Settings\USER NAME\Recent") If you want it as a popup menu, tick the "Show folder in a menu" checkbox, in the Dock Entry Properties dialog.
The Search function....... I don't know.

Thanxs. Yes I know Win + F but that's not what I am looking for. I want a pop-out Search-window just like on the real Taskbar.

I also tried, should have said that (sorry), dragging the Recent-folder to the dock but then it just opens that Window, unsorted and somewhere on the screen. Here I also want a fly-out menu like in the regular Windows Start-menu.

Hope for more solutions.

best regards, Edmond

If you want a Flyout menu, right click the dock > Add > New Flyout Menu ..... browse to that folder.
If you really mean a popup menu, I told you how to do that already.

Great. 'new fly out menu' that's what I was looking for. Thank you very much.

The Search function, well than that's something for the next version.

only problem with the flyout method pointing to the recent file folder is that it stores a lot of documents

Is there any way you can set the number of docs or the ages of the docs in recent?
