System Monitoring: need info/advice

I know a lot of people who use MBM & SysMetrix to monitor their systems, and just had a few questions:

1) Does either program accurately measure the temp of the power supply or any other hardware? Or just the motherboard?

2) What is the other most useful info these programs together supply?

3) Is it easy to configure for a "novice", and is it worth it?

I ask because I work from home, so my PC is on all day and night, and I thought that maybe monitoring things like temps etc. might be a good idea.

Any and all info related would be appreciated!

P.S.
Will these programs work with my hardware? I'm running a P4 3.2Ghz CPU, Neo 2 MSI 865PE motherboard, Coolmax PSU, 200G HDD & ATI x800PRO 256MB.

Without checking what your hardware can do. The software will only work for what you want if your hardware has the capability. Example, if you are able to check your CPU temp by going in your Bios or motherboard software, then you can use another program. Same with the rest. You can only use these functions if your hardware supports it

O' if you put the MB in yourself then you should have the book that came with it. It should tell you there if it does the temp monitor or not. Usually.
