What happened to Apolyton?

I think the last time I checked they were first by a good Margin? Some score rearrangement I guess, but dropping to 6th from first

Not enough beer in their diet. LOL

Actually, I don't think they are a very close community empire like ours, ANZAKs or G.R.O.S.S. so I imagine there is no true spirit in being part of an empire.

Go Beer!! :d

In simple terms: Not enough new version games. Other more active empires were posting 1.04 and now 1.05 scores. Old empires like Apolyton have a lot of old version scores and a relatively low activity level compared to the new crop of rising stars. This was a 50,000 point ballgame over a week ago, now it is a 90,000 point ballgame. Big difference.

Arrrgh Gunner Gerakken. They made the mistake of running into the Survey ship of doom coming fresh off the battle of the south seas. With the Aussies close behind we both snuck on em. We snuck up on both the Euro's and Apolyton whilst they were duking it out and We gave em both a broadside!!!! Their beer, wine, and women are now ours mates!!!

J4 - what are you doing in that namby pamby White Council with an attitude like that? You should be over here with us ANZACs!

Apolyton - it's the old fragmenting empre story; expect the Euro's to fall apart too....

Oh you mean the one we turned into a garbage scow with the rest of your fleet awhile back? All that thing can do now is waltz. Boy that Transmorgifrier works wonders.

We've got a few 1.040 games which were worth a lot, then I got a pair of 1.044 games which went negative and then worth 100 (which is hardly better than negative). We now don't have many games of new versions and not much activity going on. I know I can't send games before teh week end, and I think the empire doesn't really focus on sending scores. I play to hae a challenge most of the time, which means I lose most of the time, for instance. You also have to understand that Apolyton is about much more than Galciv (civ, Call to power, alternate civs and whatnot), so this explains why apolytoners don't spend as much energy on Galciv as other empires can.
But yes, the biggest problem is the score inflation of new versions, since we don't post lots of new games.

And let's face it, while Call to Power and Civ 1 are still sparkly and fresh, you boys might as well play them for a bit longer.

No time to play lately...that's one excuse. Plus, we aren't really a tight-knit group for GalCiv.

Still, we had our moment in the sun, I suppose. :)

Really it's called "summer time" for me. Family outings, yard work, garage sales and the like. I'm betting that Apolyton goes a bit more on the older side and thus many have families and other repsonsibilities. Not in high school or college anymore where I could play games 8+ hours a day! I'm lucky if I can complete even a short game in 2 weeks.

Plus I'm sure many are in the new Civ 3 expansion beta, Rise of Nations is out and many other games to keep you busy. I'm actually about ready to put GalCiv down for a while so I don't get burned out, dust off Civ 3 and kick some Carthage butt. Heck I might even reinstall SMAC and bomb Yang some more. Can never get enough of that. :HOT:
