Where does my research go?

I recently got the game (love it) but i research things like star creation and cloaking etc - but nothing seems to happen, is something supposed to happen, i.e can i make stars and 'artificial moons' like it says and how do uget ur ships to cloak etc?

also. maybe this is a bug, i can't read the full dexcribtion of some of the research items, there is no button to scroll down with.....

No none of the techs you listed here do anything but lead to more advanced techs.

The only things that happen when you research a new tech is what is listed under the tech; i.e. increase to a stat or new ships/improvements/modules or access to new techs. The summary of the techs are just for a storyline and sometimes amusement.

Cloaking gives you the ability to buit Phoenix ships, doesn't it? Or is that an alignment required ship?

Maybe it does I didn't say that the way I meant, I really meant the techs he listed don't do what the names imply you can, there is no cloaking system you can use for your ships, and you can't ever build stars or moons.

Ah. Cool.

Yes, most of the techs in GalCiv actually don't do anything but let you research more tech. Eventually, some research along the way and some at the end let you actually do things. New buildings, ships, star base modules, win the game, etc. Unlike Civ, which has few "empty space" techs, GalCiv has lots of "empty space" techs.
