minor civs question

i don't have the game yet but being dissapointed from moo3 this game sounds so awesome with all the diplomacy and manuevering of your empire in the galactic scene. one question though
are minor civilizations the same as the major ones with the exception that they can't win or what? someone or people please explain the differences if any there are between major and minor cuz im thinking they just can't win the game or end the game on a victory condition
thanks for the help

The minor's don't send colony ships to stars outside of their sector. They also don't initiate many diplomatic negotiations.

They don't really care about winning, and thus do not affect victory conditions (although two such races are supposed to be an exception to this rule.)

Minor civs don't affect victory conditions....
It's like they don't exist for that.

Supposedly they have their own AI (#6).
Most of them stay in their home sector forever.

In my games, I trade techs/goods almost exclusively with them.... it's also good to keep one alive for trade routes.

Watch out for the I-League and certain other minors.

Incidentally, as of 1.04.62, the minors were made easier to deal with diplomatically. They're cash cows if you have a very good diplomatic skill, especially early because they start with a considerable amount of BC.
