JoeUser Development

Status updates for the devleopment of JoeUser.com

JoeUser.com has taken a big step today. The backend has been put in place to allow the addition of sub blogging sites. What does this mean. This means that in the near future you will be able to have your own blog on JoeUser like t-man.joeuser.com, carielf.joeuser.com or joe.joeuser.com.

At this time we can only create the sub hosts for joeuser.com manually but having the ability to do this is a big step!

Revisit t-man.joeuser.com to keep track of new features as they are made available.

For the next couple of days JR will be working on the scoring system. With each stat we add to the system we seem to have to reconfigure on how we are saving our data. I'm sure by the time JR is done coding it he will have pulled all his hair out but it will have been worth the pain when it is all put together.

I'll probably have George work on some of the pages that are still under construction. The Watch An Article feature sounds like a good place to start.

And since I am going on vacation Friday I do not want to get into anything that will take to long so I will probably use tomorrow mostly to research RSS feeds and how we will want to integrate them into JoeUser.

So its doubtful that there will be any updates the next few days. At least major updates anyway.

Ok, plans change from day to day. I didn't get a chance to research RSS and George didn't get to the watch list. Instead we tweaked the interface a bit but changing links around and when and where replies show up when viewing articles. Also we added the Top Articles and Featured Articles sections to the bar on the right.

When replying carriage returns are now converted to
's. This will help the layout of your replies quite a bit.

And the home page of www.joeuser.com now display's featured articles and all of Brad's articles have been moved to http://draginol.joeuser.com

I really need to spend some time on enhancing the access system before I move on much further or I will find myself having to rewrite much of the code where it deals with permissions. I guess I will have to wait until next week as to what features will be prioritized.

Ok. Some changes have been made to the points system. It is about 90% operational at this point. Still need to do some server side work to it.

Also we have added the Watch List feature. Click on the Maginfying glass with add an article to your watch list. When new comments are posted to that article you will receive an email to let you know that there has been new activity to that article.

Finally, the creation of individual blog sites is now up and running! It seemed like I had to jump over hundres of hurdles in order to get this feature working. For those of you who are reading this take a peak at the account page.

(Oh, as a reminder to myself I need to implement the scripts for the point system)
