CXP changes?

The past 2 CXP themes I've downloaded don't install the same as older ones I've dl'd. (Jungle & Valentine's Day Pack)

For instance, they have a curxptheme extension. Yet when I double click to install, they don't work correctly. My icons revert back to Windows default.

I have to change the .curxptheme to .zip & then extract it. This just started happening. Before, if a theme didn't work, I had to rename a .zip to .curxptheme for it to install correctly. Now it's the opposite.

Is this new way of installing CXP themes one of the changes to version 1.31 of CXP? I have v. 1.30 and Win XP.

The changes to version 1.31 are only to correct the issues with the AMD64 processor.
I just downloaded, and tested Jungle........ it installed without a hitch. Nothing wrong with the skin. The only suggestion I have at this time is to unload CXP, and restart it. Maybe a reboot is needed....... CXP doesn't go wonky on me at times, and a reboot usually clears it up.

Unloading/Rebooting didn't clear this up, Koasati. Thanks anyway for trying. I just can't figure this out. Actually, it's been 3 consecutive downloads in a row that I've had problems with. The only comfort I have is knowing others have had same problems as me - in 2 of the 3 themes, anyway. (this was when reading the comments). It's a shame, as it looks like nothing can be fixed. What surprises me is I have to change .curxptheme to .zip to get them to work.

I wonder if you've lost the file association for some reason. Right click one of the CurXPThemes, and go to Open with..... select Choose Program. Make sure CursorXP is set to always open that file type.

I followed your advice, Koasati. I downloaded/installed a new cursor set, 'Blue Conica' with no problems. I also feel that it is how the skinner creates their skin package which could be a problem with me. For instance, on the 'Valentine's Day Pack', once extracted, it opened every item inside my CXP themes folder (grrr)- along with the scheme.ini. When I try & install a new CXP theme, it asks if I want to overwrite the existing schemei.ini. Since 'VDPack' already had a scheme.ini "showing", I couldn't extract a new theme. (can't explain this right) What I have to do is create a new folder for VCPack & move everything in to it. I've also had this problem with some CXP themes. Double clicking the .curxptheme extracts all contents to my themes folder.

Hopefully following your advice will solve my installation problems. Thanks, Koasati.
