I alluded to it in another thread, but how cool would it be to have a skins match (even annually) by invite only. Call it Skin Down.The admins or Frogboy could choose the paricipants every year (and there would always be some controversy because it's subjective). They could choose whoever has the most downloads or the most popular, or throw a newb into the mix. It could be like a five way match with the winner being the one with the most downloads by a certain date.

Imagine Tiggz against danilloOc, or BoXXi against Snowman. Have a wall section with sbgFX against kenwas.

Or team them up. Tiggz, Essorant, BoXXi and kenwas vs danilloOc, Snowman, _Martin_, and sbgFX.
Or just a cage match: Tiggs vs Danilo vs Essorant vs Steve Grenier vs BoXXi vs MRBiotech vs SkinStudio vs The Skins Factory.

Is anyone down with this or am I out in left field (again)?

I'm outstanding in my field.

Submssions would have to be released at the same time on this site for fairness. Anyone on board with the idea?

Right on SD,really love the idea.It could be done in a championship mode.You know to have as many users want to bulge in for a contest and then have elimination rounds. Just dropping ideas here

As longer as there are no ports from StyleXP. Although, the last contest didn't produce much in the way originality.

Sounds like a great idea to me, but count me out. I'm currently on a skinning-leave. (read: Fed up)

Don't expect any skins from me in 2005.

And who can fairly compete with the mastery of Tiggz...
It would have to be Tiggz vs Essorant, BoXXi Kenwas DanilloOc, Snowman, _Martin_, sbgFX, and Apocalypse67 to even be considered a contest!!!

Say what you will, but I don't feel I deserve to be amongst those names. And what about MikeB314 and Hippy? heh, thanks for the inclusion, though. I'd be happy to participate in anything for the WC community.

Thanks for the feedback! Frogboy, you out there? I'm sure that after the "comittee" or whorever, makes their selection on the entrants, the chosen ones would have to agree to participate. Snowman is retired, I guess, but if there were a decent reward to the winner, maybe he would change his mind. Maybe not.

So the participants are chosen and have agreed, now how much time do they need to make a great skin? I suppose it depends on what they are skinning. Do most want to see blinds?

If they are given, say, two months to complete their skin, we the needy public would need some teaser screenshots along the way to peak our interest. Maybe just the corner of a toolbar or a throbber image.

And then on the appointed day, all of the participant's skins are released to the public at the same time. These skins are now some of the best in the world and downloads shoot through the roof. If it is advertised ahead of time, the whole world shows up to download these skins.

...and my computer couldn't look better. At the end of the contest alloted time (say one month), downloads are counted and the winner is announced/rewarded. The skins are still here for us for a loooooooong time.

Then there may be challenges to a rematch on a different venue. Joe Schmoe just took it on the chin in a windowblind contest so he challenges the victor to a rematch using Winamp.


.... of course, some people don't like competition, but the public does.

Nobody has agreed to anything. I was just daydreaming and thought there might be some merit to this idea. ..but maybe not. Maybe artists don't like to compete.

blackout1977, I'm sorry to say that I don't know what any of those letters stand for. Maybe I'm old (40). I assume they are either video games or television shows or something.

Developer Sleeping Dragon daydreaming ia what makes the world advance, if people didn't daydream where would we be? So for sure alot of merit to this idea. I for one would like to see the end resaults..
