video driver, I think, VGA

This is a general call for help. In selecting a different setting fpr icon size, my computer has gone haywire. I tried to use system restore several times, but it never was able to restore. The screen will only display in 600 X 450 - everything I try to open is a black or blue box. It rarely will even open in Safe Mode (probably one of ten times when selected). Is there anything anyone can tell me that will help me to fix this? lszalacha@gmail.com Thanks so much, Casey

what OS are you in XP NT ?

I run XP Home Edition.

You might want to try to reinstall XP if you have the cd. Put it in the drive and reboot. Follow the instructions to repair your installation.

Thanks. I have been trying to do that, but cannot get the computer to boot-up from the disc or get to the disc otherwise!

Sounds like a hardware problem. Haven't done this for years but in the old days I would pull the Video Card out, take a pencil eraser and go lightly over the contacts. If it was a connection problem this would usually help.
