beating a guy when he's down... :)

It's not even the year 2200 yet and I've had the prison event slapped on me TWICE in a row! Those six battle crusiers are just going around stomping my meager fleet. I tried to "give" another race the "priveledge" both times, but both times everyone voted that *I* should have it.

Sorry, this post has no point to it except a little comic relief. :)

That's right; they're trying to screw you back by bestowing the same gift to you. Sometimes I think the AI's have "learned" too much from us. ;p

Accept the prison, what you have to do is to move your ships close to the AI planets that you are not at war I hope, and let the rioteers go over there and destroy the AI ships.

Odd. I have yet to have any problems with the galactic prison. When I get the vote (the +production IS nice), I orbit a number of ships in the system. No jail breaks/revolts/whatever.

Unless your talking about something else. ;)

In my experience, the galactic prison has a jailbreak nearly every game. The pirates seem pretty weak when they start, so I almost always take it. I just make sure there is a frigate or better on that system...

I put several ships in orbit. How effective would a prison be with one one guard? Good use for those cheap support star fighters.

I've found that there is a jailbreak EVERY time as well. It's the same with the zoo, every game the creatures escape.

Now I'm ready for it though and I make sure there are plenty of defences in place if I'm stuck with the prison/zoo.

Odd. I've never had a jailbreak or a zoo escape. Ever. And yes, I'd had both events a number of times. :) IIRC the Drengin have experienced the jailbreak a couple of times.

All I can say is keep playing and you will find out about them soon enough. It seems that they are alittle weaker in the new version though. In 1.05 it happened to me couple times and wiped whole fleets at a time.In 1.1 seems I can wipe them out easily.

Did all the peole who didn't get break-outs keep ships in orbit? How many?

Did all the people who did have break outs leave their planets undefended? (why waste money supporting ships in orbit when teh enemy is on the other side of the galaxy, right?

In all my latest games every single one of them I had both events zoo escape and jail break, but both events work in my favor, what I do it is that I place my Hero in a place close to the zoo beasts, they come after it like bears after honey, then I lead them by the nose into the AI area, and there they take care of destroying all AI ships, and then the AI comes crying sort of: "Dear friend the Space sharks are killing us, please do something" then I as agood as I am, I sell them all the crummy junk I have and take away from them, money, techs, influence and then wait until they don't have defense at all and then send the calvary to conquer them. So if you are playing smart those events can suit you very well.

Do you think luck could have something to do with these events? I mean...luck is supposed to make things better for you...so if you have high luck, the chances of these events are much less?

Oh, by the way, hi. This is kinda my first post here. Not gonna go on, as I don't want to drag this off topic. ^^;;

welcome to the board, and the game. I am sure there is some (un)luck factor in the escapes.

Prepare for the onslaught of "join my empire" posts.
