Anybody have problems w/your PC? Come here!

Help, please.

I need big help. I have 12 infected files on my PC, and it is a bigtime slowdown. I need help-. My Norton Anti-Virus 2002 will pick up the infected files, but it says thet access to file is denied, and it's in the system32 folder?! What's the catch? It also says thet it can't repair it. I don't have a credit card, so I can't renew it. (That's not the problem.) Can anybody leave comments on any similar problems, or ANSWERS please tell me!!!!!!!!!

Does it give youthe option to quarantine the virus? If not it sounds like you need a more up to date Anti-Virus.
You can buy Norton 2005 from the store with cash, or if $$ is tight you can try AVG, it's free, and lots of peoplw swear by it.
You should be able to find it at: majorgeeks.com in teh AntiVirus section.
Good luck.

Reboot into safe mode (Win 9x, 2000) and run the scan. It should be able to access and fix/delete the files then. If you are in WinXP, click Start, Run and type msconfig and hit enter. On the General tab select Diagnostic startup and click OK. It will ask you to reboot. When the system comes back, Run the scan and fix the files. After the files are fixed, rerun the msconfig and select normal startup and reboot.
I highly recommend AVG. I use AVG Professional on several PC's and It has proven to be much more effective than Norton.

Turn off your system restore. After you clean everything, turn it on again.   Also, you can do a free online scan at a variety of places. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

When you have a virus on your machine, it gets saved in system restore.  Antivirus can delete it from everywhere else but not there.

Thank You for all of your help, it is fixed now. The trick that worked was from Linque, and AVG is the best anti-virus program to use. Thanks again.
