my icons are kinda funky.....

im new, don't laugh at me :)

HI, my desktop items have a background colour on the writing e.g. the Microsoft "Word" icon has green behind the "word" writing....how can i get rid of this and make it see-through/transparent>????
Please help....don't laugh, again, im new to this whole modifying thing....

Hiya DBecker Would help to know what version of Windows you're running and what customization software as well.

i got Xp home edition and no customizations, i only d-load new desktop themes...and the colour is that of the old theme...eg. if i had a black desktop and changed to green the writing under the icosn would still be black....

Here's one thing to check:
1. Right-click My Computer and choose Properties. The System Properties dialog box opens.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. Under Performance, click Settings. The Performance Options dialog box opens.
4. On the Visual Effects tab, be sure the Use Drop Shadows For Icon Labels On The Desktop is checked. If this box is cleared (not checked), icon labels appear on a solid rectangular background (the symptom you have described). (This only applies to WIN XP.)
