winxp sp2 & object desktop

when i installed service pack 2 on xp my computer wont load the OS until I go into safe mode and delete all startup items from object desktop. Is this normal? Anyone tell me how to solve this problem? Besides uninstalling sp2? Thanks for any help.

Not normal. Go to Start => Run and type in msconfig to open up Windows System Configuration Utility. From there go to the Startup Tab. Uncheck everything that has the location startup. If your PC boots fine. Add the items, replace the checkmark, to each startup item one at a time until you find the app that is the culprit. If you're able to single out an app, I would, if it were me, uninstall then re-install the app that is giving you the problems during startup. Make sure that you have a checkpoint set up in XP's System Restore or another program like Norton's GoBack is running so you can restore things back to your current state before you start uninstalling things.
