CTD Game of the Month

This is a thread which at first glance looks very much like another thread, for which the title reminds me more of the title of this thread every time I see it . . .

Ok vent your frustrations! I still ocassionly get a CTD (Crashes to the Desktop) playing ver 1.05 (albeit rarely which is good). Mind you when it happens it's almost always at some super-critical ground shaking moment . . . oh the humanity!

The last time this happened was on Wednesday the 13th (an unlucky number?) at 4 am (a ridiculous time!). Anyway I finally managed to create a 'close' relasionship with the Torians (The outright and undisputable Galactic Masters in this particular game) playing 'Maso' after hours upon hours of prostration and grovelling.

Up until that point I wasn't doing too well, just hanging on by a thread to be honest. I'd just lost eight planets to the Yor and Dregin for no other reason than the fact that I had jack technology, jack economy and well if you've played Maso you probably get the picture.

Mabye they felt sorry for me? Mabye they hated the other two? Who knows? Who cares? I didn't! All I knew was that if I could get an Alliance with the Torians I'd have a reasonable chance of finally getting some kind of victory on Maso difficulty. (which off-course I've never come as close to as in this game).

Sooo we start to negociate . . . It took me about 10 seconds in the diplomacy screen (drowsily staring at ETs Dad) to realize I had absolutely nothing of any concievable value to offer in exchange for an Alliance!

"F%^&@ing BULL S^&T" I exclaimed out loud!

Fortunately when I get in these situations my 'spirit guide' (Albert) takes over and analyzes the problem! AH! I have a Combat transport! I can offer them that I thought! Fortunately my 'spirit guide' (Albert) interjected at this point and alerted me to a near planet I'd recently lost. 'SOL'!

Realizing the Torians may well accept a system in an exchange for an alliance (likely since they seemed happy to accept the lousy 16 PQ asteroid I'm was stranded on) and seeing that the Yor had over extended themselves I launched 3.4 billion troops (all my population) and re-capture my home world! I was extatic!

The fairytail continues, I exchange the 16 PQ plannet for an alliance and wonder of wonders the Torians declare war on the other two coights! All in the space of 3 turns! Great!

Then disaster strikes! Some stupid darn plauge breaks out and infest my already stressed out population and I have to make a "morality check!" I make a choice (not telling you which one . . I'm ashamed!) then I click 'DONE' and it's goodnight nurse . . . CTD!!!

Naturally I reloaded the Auto-Save and played the last few turns again but instead of getting friendlier the Torians basically ignored me and I perished very soon there after every time I tried.

So sad (:(
