Windows SP2 Issues

SP2 Cancels out Skin

I've noticed that windows SP2 will NOT allow windows blinds to put the skin on any Windows except Non Microsoft programs and IE. The start bar will not have the skin nor will any windows such as Control Panel sections, or my computer. Does anyone know how to fix this? It defeats the purpose of having the skin if you only get to see it on IE, and very few other programs.

I'm running XP Pro with service pack 2 and have none of the problems you describe with WindowBlinds. I think you have some other issue like video driver, or WB program corruption.

I had the same worries before installing the SP2. After I installed SP2 I had no problems at all. By the way I installed the SP2 on fresh PC (bought new one lately). If you have a lot of trash on your PC you should clean it before and should have no problem at all!

Which version of Windowblinds are you using? Do you have an AMD64 Processor?

The problems you described should definitively not occur and most SP2 systems work without a problem with WindowBlinds.

I have installed Windowblinds 4.4 on WinXP SP2, I found that the taskbar and start menu were no longer skinned. They had assumed the apperance of the "Classic" theme. Moreover, everything was operating slowly. I unloaded Windowblinds, and that solved the problem, but even after uninstalling the program, restarting, and reinstalling, I still have the same issue when attempting to use WIndowblinds themes.

Can anyone tell me what the problem may be?

In addition, I am using an AMD Athlon 64 computer. I have installed Windowblinds 4.4 onto my Intel P4 PC which also using WinXP SP2, but the theme has been working fine.

So does that mean you are running WindowBlinds on both computers, and have the same error on both computers?

For the AMD64 read this article first http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875352 and try to do the following:

Go to control panel> system> advanced> startup and recovery settings> edit. A text document should open in notepad. Save a backup copy and then change the text after /noexecute= to alwaysoff. Then save this copy as boot in c:.
