Annoying Problem...

Hey all I'm new here. I love Objectdock and for a while it's been running great. But not too long ago I reformatted my hardrive because I installed a new graphics card and it gave me problems viewing media online. So after a nice clean reformat you'd think everything would be running smoothly right? Well it is, everything except objectdock for some strange reason. I have around a little over 20 icons, some animated some not on the objectdock taskbar, they all ran smooth before no matter how many windows i had up. Well after the reformat all I have to do is run internet explorer and all the sudden object dock slows down to a crawl. Now my computer isn't running slow because everything else runs fine, but when I move my mouse over the icons they won't grow in size, it stutters and sometimes just gets stuck. I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same errors. I have a 3 ghz P4 processor with 512mbs of ram and the video card I just installed is a ATI 9600xt so I KNOW for a fact that my system can handle objectdock. The version I have is 1.04, any advice would be great thanks!!!

...out of curiosity, why are you using version 1.04?

I would also look to ensure that you memory is running at speed to your CPU check the FSB and the volts reporting. Missmatch in the RAM can also cause issues.

I checked windows task manager while I was moving my mouse over the icons and it rarely hit over 4% so thats not the problem. How do I check the volts, is that under the BIOS?? I have two 256mb pc2100 dual channel sticks on my motherboard. I'm just complelty lost here, this wasn't a problem before I reformatted my hardrive
Thanks for all the help so far.

Chances are the fault is with IE.....possibly virus/spyware....

Indeed. Either that or one of those wonderful IE 'Cumulative' updates....(you never know what poison you're swallowing)

...I didn't see an answer to this....you should be running 1.05.018 (Free, if that's what you have). Get it in SDC under the 'Free Stuff' tab

I downloaded the new version, but I still had the same problems, oh well. I decided to use firefox since I heard its pretty good and my problems have been fixed, no more slow down at all! See ya IE

You may want to...
Get a new PC with an AMD DURON Processor...
Get the America Online PC...
Upgrade to version 1.05 or...
Upgrade to Windows XP... one shall do this...

I hope you can continue to support your maker of PC...
Put your money where your VISA is and get ObjectDock PLUS.
This HAS to work!

My dock closed down and a message of runtime error appeared stating there was an abnormal program termination. What exactly is a runtime error and how can I prevent it from happening. Thank you.

Citizen Babolene: there's a decently large chance your problem is being caused by either a docklet, or by the same problem that we've been seeing involving IconPackager 3. Please refer to my response in recent threads regarding problems with ObjectDock starting or problems dragging icons and follow the steps there to see if that helps. Let me know how it goes for you, thanks
