To complement our new name and general philosophy, I have changed my nick to Jedi Master Yoda. If you wish you may change your names to relevent Star Wars characters, especially senate members, they could be name of the jedi council members like Plo Koon, Mace Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Depa Billaba, Saesee Tiin , Oppo Rancisis , Yarael Poof, Even Piell, Eeth Koth etc. Other members could take names of other jedi, just do a google search for jedi names if you need help ;)

To change your nick go to www.wincustomize.com and click Edit Account, from there you will see the change nick name button

Count Dooku, formally called Monkson, likes the path our empire is now taking.

Great new logo and name, Master Jedi!
It looks like our pirate crew has resisted the old Jedi mind tricks when you asked us join you in a confederation, but at the rate at which you're growing you may catch us in a month on your own.

May the force be with you,
Cypher

Okay finally finshed chasing the thread and got here. I like the new name and logo a lot, great job to all who worked on it. :)

I posted this in the old thread. Now posting here...

I am now Qui-Gon Jinn, Master of the Living Force. In a former incarnation I was once known as LifeWish.

I choose Qui-Gon Jinn as my name, because Qui-Gon was a master of the Living Force, unlike most Jedi Masters who chose to become more connected to the Unifying Force.

Long live the Jedi Republic!

Thought I'd come up with something a touch more creative to replace the inimitable "Lone Locust of the Apocalypse."

As the mighty PBP brought the topic of Tennessee football into our previous thread, I shall henceforth be known as "Tal-Der Riesen" - a rough German translation of "Valley of the Giants." Homage to the Valley of the Jedi from Dark Forces 2 (the first real Jedi PC game), the Tennessee Valley, and of course the local Titans. What do you think?

On a side note, Master Yoda, your current nick is an improvement on "Palpatine," as I kept checking your game results to see if your blue happy face was going away...

I tell you, a Jedi needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his sword perpendicular,
Or swirl in his knight-robes, or cherish his pride?

On a side note, everybody better have a "Darth" name ready if they're thinking about taking a walk on the Dark Side, alignment-wise. Was tempted by the easier, quicker, more seductive path in my last game... :SURPRISED:

Trouble is, if you're in Nashville, it's on the Cumberland (locals call it the scumberland due to polution) rather than the Tennessee river.

PBP, the "Tennessee Valley" is a geographic area that encompasses most of Tennessee and even reaches outside of it in places. Generic name for the TN River Valley and the other major waterways in and around the state. Remember the TVA? It's still around, operating the 8,000,000 or so dams that provide power around here.

Fellow Jedi, I offered the following rather extended post to the mighty GROSS thread. Repeating it here for your convenience.

Master Yoda, this isn't intended to steal your thunder - just thought it might help to give the pirates a "citizen on the street" opinion. If I'm out of line, let me know and I'll save the Imperial stuff for you.

Ahem. Fellow citizens of the Metaverse, pirates though ye may be:

As a citizen in good standing of the Jedi Council, I have naturally been keeping an eye on the open communications of GROSS, as you're not only #1 but apparently at war with us. I have not yet seen any official response on our leader's offer of an armistice, although there has been a bit of conversation here in Threadzilla on the topic.

If the question is still under debate, a few thoughts:

1. Jedi are not fundamentally opposed to piracy. You'll remember that Ben Kenobi did, in fact, hire Han Solo, a man with a past as checkered as many of yours.

2. Jedi are not opposed to alcohol consumption per se. Ol' Kenobi, you'll remember, knew somebody at every bar.

3. The Force is a doctrine that encompasses both good and evil. It's merely a path; it's your decision which way to walk. While it's true that our empire has a lot of blue Chaotic Good smilies, I don't believe that there is a single blue-white, Pure Good, Altairian-hugging happy face among the bunch. At last check, we had a few neutrals and at least one evil member, and it's rare to find a Jedi who hasn't taken a walk on the Dark Side in at least one or two games - yours truly included. (Easier. Quicker. More seductive.)

4. Finally, may I submit GalCiv's description of The Dark Side:

There are those who believe our civilization is brutal and evil. They're dead now. Those that remain may fear us but they also respect us. Now we can provide them the doctrine of the dark side. There is no evil or good. There is only power.

This is as good a motto for GROSS as I have yet come across...

In closing, I suggest that we choose our battles carefully. GROSS is likely to face challenges in the near future from the undead Canucks (and quite possibly the MWC). The Jedi Republic, on the other hand, is honing its lightsabers for the children of Sid Meier in Apolyton, while not ignoring those we have surpassed in our climb.

The time will surely come when our empires MUST face each other in battle, and it will most likely be glorious for victor and vanquished alike. Until then, let us end this senseless spat.

Oh, and if you concentrate on the Canadians, remember they have good beer. 'Nuff said.
End of quote

May the Force be with y'all.

Welcome Younglings, large future ahead, there is. Together we must stay, mmm yes always together. For Uncertain the future is, always in motion, changing. Stronger you will become, but beware of the Dark Side. If you choose the quick and easy path, then forever your future will it be...

My apologies, Jedi Master. My own particular flavor of flirting with the Dark Side is to talk too much...As a newbie, I'll try to restrain my impulses until I get a better feel for what's appropriate in the Republic.

On a side note, how did we manage to get into a war with GROSS? I thought I'd checked the threads pretty thoroughly to get a feel for the different empires before I signed on, but I apparently missed that one.

Your friendly, shady Spymaster sneaking along to give you a preview. The Force is strong in the Jedi Republic: 78.6% good. But a dark one is among you who is still early on the path to the Dark Side. Just remember, there are always two: a master and a student. I have found the student, but where is the dark master?

Lol, sry I have been absent recently, I've been playing SW Galactic Battlegrounds on the msn zone. I will be on tomorrow.

Master Yoda, fellow Jedi, and guests,

Asking people (umm, including me) to remember how to spell "Tal-Der Riesen" in the chat room at 5:00 AM proved unrealistic - I've followed my Master's lead of changing nicknames twice in the same week. Besides, as a Senator I should probably use a name that people have heard of before.

Apologies to whoever grabbed "Obi-Wan Kenobi" and "Ben Kenobi" as nicknames already, but you're not posting on the boards and you're not in the Metaverse.

I feel the influence of my old master (Count Dooku)on me. I toyed with the dark side in my last game and now my overall alignment is neutral. :p

Ahhh down the slippery slope you slide Qui-Gon. Next you'll notice that you have started dressing in all black and have a mechanical hand. :SURPRISED:

Careful with the dark side flirtation, Master Qui-Gon, or Gerakken's gonna have a ball with his alignment reports.

On a side note, I notice that Kriptick is also strong with the Dark Side. Our first "Darth," perhaps?

This is as I have already revealed:
But a dark one is among you who is still early on the path to the Dark Side. Just remember, there are always two: a master and a student. I have found the student, but where is the dark master?
End of quote

So this leads to the question of the long range accuracy of my report. Is Kriptick merely the student of a Darkness already among you, or the siren's call of a newly revealed Sith master to lure poor Jedi like Qui-Gon Jinn down the path of Darkness in his moment of weakness? It takes little for a moment of weakness to expand into a lifetime of despair. Ponder, you shall, Jedi.

I suggest a long trip to Dagoba with Master Yoda to go visit a certain swamp cave. And I could also sneak along to take some film for a little piece I would call "Greatest Jedi Training Bloopers". :)

Indeed, the call of the dark side is powerful. Desperate for an advantage in my current, first Crippling game (Large), I succumbed to the easier, quicker, more seductive path of a +25% PQ and was rewarded with an evil interface on the spot. Fortunately, I think my blue smiley face has a bit of breathing space.

Master Yoda, we need your guidance.
