Helpt with Object Dock ... How do I install items ...

All of the Object Dock images that can be downloaded on WC, how do I install them. I bought the Plus version thinking it would have some directions, but did not; nor is there any help area. I tried several of the themes on WC and downloaded, tried to install and apply. Normally it is saying I don't have Object Dock installed! I'm looking at it, so what gives. When I looked at the video prior to buying OD, it showed all of the great themes, etc. Well I don't see any of that in the program. Hope someone can give me advise. I know alot of the program on Stardock are difficult to understand at first because there are little to no directions for downloading, installing, etc. I have been able to figure out all my favorites: Login studio, Bootskins, Cursor XP, Window Blinds, Icon Packager. I just am getting NO WHERE with this Object Dock. The theory from the video seems great, but there has got to be an easy way to take advantange of all the peoples' hard work that is posted on WC. Do I have to do everything myself? None of the themes on WC can be applied? Please help. I am very confused and disapointed at this point.

Yeah, I understand your frustration myself, but later found that learning to work with the programs was part of the fun of it. If you can give details on exactly what it is that you want to do, maybe we can help you. There is so much that you can do with ObjectDock specifically, and it would take a very long time to explain it all. Just try to be patient, ask questions, and in no time you will be a ObjectDock wizard.

Most of the time, the 'themes' available for download for ObjectDock go into the 'backgrounds>theme name' folder. Download the theme, which I think is just a .zip file. Extract those files into a new folder (a sub-folder) in the objectdock backgrounds folder. You'll see what I mean With OD open, right click on a tab and choose 'Tab Settings'. Go to 'Tabs and Styles'. At the bottom is a drop down list called styles. You should find your files there. Choose it and then "apply this style to all tabs". That should do it.

ChasUGC: Thanks for your response. There is soooo much, it is hard to begin, but I will try. I see alot of themes on WC. I assume I can download them, install (although I don't know how!) and then be able to apply them under the "Load Themes". I tried this several times, but none of them showed up. I believe I understand that a person has to cusomize his own theme, but adding programs, etc. that you want on the OD, but I thought the whole purpose of a theme was so that most of it was there for you you could add icons for programs or delete as you wish. Werewolf gave me some good suggetions I will try a little later. Since I am not a "creator", I want to be able to use some of the themes on OD and than just customize as I want. Also, if I see a specific icon I want, when I download it, do I just put it into images? Thanks!

to create a shortcut right click on a empty section on the bar. a menu will popup. go to the add section and select new shorcut .. on the bar a new ? icon will appear .. right click on it and select "Dock entry properties".in the window yow can edit the name of the shortcut,the link you want it to point to,and the image you want to use as the icon.you can drag the icon any where on the dock to arrange them as you like..to remove a shortcut just drag it off the dock .. it will disapear ...

Just Jane!: I just create my own folder called "Dock" in the Object Dock Directory, and I put all my icons in there. That way, if I uninstall the program, I can move my folder out and save it.

Look up one comment. Put them in their own folder in the backgrounds folder.

Thanks everyone!!! This is great. I believe initially I did not have the "plus" version installed. I tried the OD first, then ordered and installed plus, but what I had previously did not look like what I have now. I uninstalled OD+, deleted folders and reinstalled. You are all right...I believe with time I will understand this program well. I have alot to learn and will most likely post some more questions, but what you have all given me helps so much. I don't think I would learn anything without all of you out there in "Discussion World." I know I can always get the help I need here. Essencay...Thanks for the link. It helps greatly.
