Republic Communication Thread

As the first post for our new com thread, I would like to announce that I am nominating LifeWish to be my Vice-President. I feel he is the most qualified to lead us in the event of a catastrophic event. What do you say LifeWish?

Perhaps this honorable Senate would consider electing a temperary dictator for catastrophic situations, instead of a permenant Vice President? It is in my experience that individuals with such power (even vice president power) may become too enthralled by it, and seek ways of increasing their power. If Lifewish (or anyone else) became a VP, he might even go off to set up his own nation, ripping us apart in a brutal civil war. However- I must say the Lifewish gets my vote for a role as temporary leader.

We dropped a spot and only need a few submissions to take 8th spot back. I have not had a chance to play much at all the past month or so, but I am now going to help us achieve greatness. Hopefully moving up to the next level will not kill me too much.

On a side not, how long does everyone play a level before moving up?

Oh, I will still maintain my powers, and we will work with the senate, for I feal that the senate is very important to the success of the Republic. I simply feel that LifeWish's extrordinary commitment deserves recognising.

Perhaps, noble President, you can honor Lifewish by means of a title of some sort, but without actual power? Or, give him permaenant 'dibs' for the rank of temp. Dictator?

I have founded a new Empire, the Republic. I would like to say that in no way is my Empire a hardcore gaming group, but rather a place to have fun, without having to worry about the competition. Okay, I'm in. I've been contemplating joining an empire for a while, and now I'm a proud Republic cititzen!

This is an exherpt from my first recruitment, as you can see LifeWish was the first member of our fine Republic.

Dictator? Who said anything about there being a dictator?

I did, most noble President. Perhaps, if you prefer, we may call it somthing else.

Hmm, mabey we could nominate LifeWish to be a master jedi. Hmm...

I'm honored to be considered for this post, and humbly accept. I'd also like to take this opportunity to publicly state that I will never rebel against the Republic!

I like the idea of us incorporating the use of the terms Jedi to distinguish members of our empire. I suggest that this title be based on actual scores. Say, those with a score of 20K or more are Jedi apprentices, those with 30K are full Jedis and perhaps only the top 3 scorers among the Jedis are to be given the title of Jedi Master.

Also since we are not an exclusively good empire, the Jedis and Masters could prefer to be considered Dark Jedis and Sith Lords if their alignment is evil.

Thoughts?

Good ideas LifeWish! See thats why I nominated you, you can expand our empire. Ok now we need a way of implementing this, hmm. Let me take a look at our Empire scores and figure up a system...

Ok, heres what I'v come up with, feel free to add you opinions citizens:

Republic Levels of Citizenship

Title Points

1. Citizen 0-500

2. Enlightened 501-999

3. Jedi Padawan/Sith Apprentice 1000-9999

4. Jedi/Sith Knight 10000-19999

5. Jedi/Sith Master 20000-49999

6. Eternal Being of the Force 50000-Infinite

The reason I set the points so high is so that while time goes on and peoples points continue getting higher, we don't go through all the titles right away.

Good news! the Republic's forum has the ability to add titles! This way we could implement this program beyond just knowing the levels, on our forum http://www.chatarea.com/TheRepublicGalacticCivilizationsSuperpower I could display the status of all our citizens levels, much like the galciv access rating.

Excellent theme, guys! Star Wars will always be a winner. Maybe a new empire name and icon would really go well with Jedi/Sith. Light saber icon?

You may have problems with the titles and points though as the new scoring system is tremdendously generous so there wouldn't be many citizens or enlightened ones for sure.

Really? Well the system is in it infantcy so if changes surface, I will adjust the requirments accordingly. As for the Logo and name, well thats part of our storyline...

Good stuff guys....develop the theme...and concentrating all your efforts in the one place makes it MUCH easier to target you for our next assault, when you're all standing in the one place, virtually speaking....muhahahahahah.....

Also, nice job on developing a theme.

Reason why I suggested a name/icon change to to make your theme more evident to galcivers looking for an empire.

Till now, I've not figured out what your icon is

And I personally associate Republic to Rome and gladiators rather than Star Wars.

I think you Jedis need to more focus on the Force. You've been overtaken by the Spiders.

My early spin on it was what if Caesar led the Nazi party? Ancient Roman institutions merged with a modern (or post-modern in this case) fascist dictatorship that told the people how to act and what to believe. Everything was for the state, and the state was everything. The emperor was the face of the state that the people could identify with, but the emperor was not the state itself. Even the emperor is ultimately expendable if he harms the interests of the state, much like many Roman emperors.

Of course, my early assessment could just be faulty intelligence. Bad data happens. Afterall, it is up to them to ultimately forge a distinct identity.

Oh dear, the dark side has clouded my vision. We have been overtaken by the vile spider race. We must consentrate and take back what is rightfully ours.

Another suggestion I have for your titles is to tag them to the Metavarse ranks. Ranks are a function of both points and games played (i think).

So
Rear Admiral and above - Eternal Being of the Force
Commodore - Jedi Master,
Fleet Capts - Jedis,
Capts - Jedi Padawan,
Commanders - Enlightened,
Lts & below - Citizens.

It's really easy to get up to Commanders now as you need just 2500 pts and 3 games.
