What ever happened to ....? (long lost authors)

What ever happened to ....? (long lost authors)

Hi peoples,
Just cruising through the older wb designs and came across one of the really great artists of yesteryear. Anyone know what became of author: Jay-z2k ? is he using another nick now? has he gotten out of skinning? has anyone kept in touch?

I'd love to see the skins he did updated to the latest wb build.
and he's just one of many who've dissapeared leaving really great skins that cannot be updated.

anyone else have a long lost author they'd like to see updating their work?

hmm.. now that we have a sizeable list, anyone know how best we should go about tracking them down on other websites?
maybe a post in one of the blogs? or perhaps a random blurb in msg board on another website?(don't want to cause a war in another site by calling on skinners to come back for a visit or update, but still think it's worth it to try getting these artists to remember where they left some really great work.)

ideas anyone?

Aleksyandr http://www.aleksyandr.com/

Just discovered :

"07/12/04: Well, all good things must come to an end. New challenges lie ahead, and hopefully I will be entering graduate school next fall. Though it seems like I've said goodbye several times already to skinning (only to be pulled back by a sudden spark of creativity) I think it safe to say I'm finally done. I simply don't have the time or interest to continue with it or keep up with the changes. Rather than leave the site without an update, I thought it best to post a final time. I have no plans to shut down the site, as it is cheap to run, so my skins and the unfortunately outdated tutorial will remain here, for whatever they're worth. Thanks to everyone who I've share my skinning experiences with, particularly those who've e-mailed to say they've enjoyed my work."

well maybe there will come a time in the future when aleksandr has some free time open up and we'll see more spectacular stuff , or even an update or two...

Anyone seen any of the others mentioned?

Thanks I hadn't seen it interesting. That reminds me I need to release my HAM Radio DesktopX Theme once I finish it this weekend.

Wonder if they will fix it that when you change your nick , they nick with old skins will change as well.

pixelcargo,

I had originally decided to post this thread on the off chance that the old work doesn't show up under the new nick. I had hoped some of the artists who'd created these works were still here and just using a new nick. I thought maybe they would notice the interest in their past work and be inspired to update.
I had also hoped that people who travel within the skinning communities would spread the word that these artists were still valued and their work missed.
