Using Clairvoyance for customization

https://www.clairvoyanceai.com/view/share/9k7q_Gd_HfUR

If you have Object Desktop, you get Clairvoyance Plus with it for free.  Which means you get a new super power.

I'm going to go make a whole bunch of WindowBlinds skins and upload them.  Maybe some icon packages.

Can you explain why I just renewed OD and received this after one prompt?

"Your hosted AI tokens are used up. Buy a token pack to keep going, or connect a local AI CLI for unlimited local use."

This does not sound like I have Plus for free.
I just renewed my classic sub for  $42.17 CAD (which seems expensive for a past customer with a classic sub), thinking that I would be able to use Clairvoyance in place of ChatGPT. I don't know what the Plus gives you, but I literally opened up Clairvoynace and typed in a prompt, uploaded a zip file, and received a message about my tokens being used up. Someone please explain to me what Plus gives you because the whole reason I renewed my sub is to have a Plus version of Clairvoyance, but if I can't do more than 2 minutes of work, it is totally useless.
Now perhaps I am missing something, or I have Clairvoyance configured wrong. I doubt I can use a local host on this old computer of mine, so that's not really an option.
I am looking to be enlightened.

I haven't dl'd Clarvoyance Plus yet, JC but my AI (ChatGPT) answered:

"In Stardock Clairvoyance, “Plus” denotes the paid/premium tier, rather than a separate version of the application.
As of Stardock's current description:

Clairvoyance Free — the basic application is free.

Clairvoyance Plus — adds premium capabilities, notably syncing, hosted AI, and access to preview/early features.

Object Desktop subscribers receive Clairvoyance Plus access as part of their subscription, at no additional charge.

So if you're seeing “Clairvoyance Plus” in Stardock Central/Object Desktop, the Plus is essentially the subscription entitlement/premium feature set, not “Plus” meaning a particular hardware or Windows edition.

Interestingly, Stardock has expanded what Plus includes during the 2026 beta period, so the exact feature set may continue changing."

As for your machine...Stardock hasn't published tech specs like CPU/RAM etc. requirements.

I am using the desktop version, it says I have the plus version. I cannot use it because it is saying that I am out of tokens. That is all I can tell you.

This message indicates that your Clairvoyance subscription or purchased token pool for Hosted AI (server-side models like Claude, GPT, or Gemini) has been exhausted. Because Hosted AI relies on external providers and Clairvoyance's own servers, it consumes a metered resource that requires payment, distinct from Local AI which runs entirely on your machine.

To resume using Hosted AI features, you must either buy a token pack to replenish your usage allowance or connect a local AI CLI (such as Ollama, LM Studio, or vLLM). Switching to a local model provides unlimited local use because inference runs on your own hardware, eliminating the token costs and context window limits associated with cloud-based providers.

" replenish your usage allowance or connect a local AI CLI (such as Ollama, LM Studio, or vLLM). " I cannot run a local AI on my old machine because  Local AI struggles on old computers primarily due to insufficient memory bandwidth and lack of specialized hardware acceleration.

Used this software to create this wallpaper a few minutes ago, going to be a learning process for sure!

I asked CV to design a Walking Dead themed Iconpackage:

Not so bad.

Nevertheless this came out when I asked to go on producing the theme:

I never could return to the  original design.

But I was out of tokens anyway.

That is a 2nd point: What do we pay tokens for? I have a ChatGPT and Claude subscription and Ollama running.locally.
So it means I have to pay extra for CV? Or did I misunderstand?

Also I use ucon manifests and lists in ChatGPT/Code to produce always the same icons functionwise. Could I get these into CV also? Plus ChatGPT knows my taste and requirements quite well now. I am lost to get this into CV to go on with projects.

The way I understand it, if you run Clairvoyance on the cloud server you need tokens, but not if you run it on your machine, locally. I could be wrong.

I have already tried running local AI models directly on my computer, and they bring the system to a halt, so that really isn't a practical option for me.

What I don't understand is how this compares with using my ChatGPT Plus account on the web. With ChatGPT Plus, I have five-hour usage allowances during which I can get a significant amount of heavy coding done. There are also weekly allowances, and if I use up my weekly allowance, I may have to wait several days before I can use Work chats again. Regular chats are still available, but they don't provide the same coding capabilities.

With Clairvoyance, however, I am being asked to pay separately for coding. That isn't what I expected after being upgraded to Clairvoyance Plus when I renewed my Object Desktop subscription.

I realize I may be comparing two different services, but essentially I am comparing Clairvoyance Plus with ChatGPT Plus, and I am trying to understand why ChatGPT Plus gives me access to substantial coding capabilities within my subscription while Clairvoyance appears to require additional payment for similar use.

Someone please explain this to me, as it is confusing.

If you already have ChatGPT plus click on the Cloud AI in settings and install Codex which is their desktop agent. Then yku can use that instead in Clairvoyance.

Think of ChatGPT, Claude, etc. as the OS and Clairvoyance as a shell.

Also, the AI yiu choose makes all the difference. I have a Claude sub and Opus 5.5 is what made the WB skins.

Then what you are telling me is that I don't need Clairvoyance. I already have ChatGPT Plus and the Codex desktop app. If all I am doing is using ChatGPT within Clairvoyance, that is not Plus benifits for me, it may be for someone else.

My Staff:

Have to look, what to make with it. As far as I understand I can let them work as a team. Still have to figure out.

Here's my mix.  My ChatGPT sub fgoes to the Codex (OpenAI logo) ones, Claude sub goes to Opus, Cursor to Grok and composer.

If you're just chatting then yea, ChatGPT can do it.

But you couldn't, for instance, do what we are discussing in this thread.

The point of Clairvoyance is that it's working on your actual PC, not in a cloud.  The results you get are already on your computer.  It includes hundreds of agentic tools that make it possible to do real work (and play) on your computer.

You aren't really meant to try to use the hosted AI if you already have another AI provider (I mean ChatGPT Plus is $240 a year, use their tokens).

I am not paying $240 a year because I won't be using it for that long, but yes, I pay $20 a month for Plus so I can get code done and I have the codex app.
I might not know what I am doing with Clairvoyance, and I am not going to deny that is probably part of the problem, but there does not seem to be any sort of guide to help new users configure it correctly for their needs. For example, I installed a Qwen and Orinth models but I am getting "No Local Models Installed" even though they are installed and are displayed in Staff Models. I am also unable to start Locama and I cannot select Ollama which says it is recommended.
So unless I can get it running, it is useless for me, and even though ChatGPT cost me more than I thought it was worth, I am finding out that I won't mind paying for something that is pretty much frustration-free and just works well.

This is amazing feedback, JC.

What I am finding interesting is that it's not detecting that you have Codex installed.

This should be enabled for you:

Great feedback though because this is a poor UX on our part.

I did press start several times. It does not matter now, though; I canceled my OD sub and got a refund. I can't be bothered trying to get something to work when I have an alternative. If for some reason you find out what needs to be changed, I might revisit it down the road, but I won't be able to offer anymore testing.

I'm a little confused.  You canceled Object Desktop?  Clairvoyance is a perk on top of Object Desktop.

I can understand why that would confuse you.
I renewed my sub only for Clairvoyance, thinking I would have Plus features similar to my ChatGPT Plus sub. I did not need anything else from Object Desktop; I am still on Windows 10 iot enterprise ltsc 2021 and I have all my Stardock software backed up that I want to use on this system.
Don't get me wrong though, I would rather use Clairvoyance over my ChatGPT sub if I could understand it better and have it work on my system, and I would happily renew my OD sub to have only that one "Perk", but I spent over an hour trying to be able to use it, and that's the frustration I don't need in my life right now.
I think that Clairvoyance is a great program for most people, but I personally encounter too many issues setting it up, so at this point it's not for me.
