Middle click to close

How?

Hi everyone,

After being force-upgraded to Windows 11 I installed Start11 hoping that it can emulate Windows 10 with 7+ Taskbar. So far so good, but I am missing a crucial feature: closing taskbar items with middle click. This behavior seems natural considering that most browsers use the middle button to close tabs. I don't think I can live without this feature anymore.

Can this be done?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I don't remember middle click can close an app on Windows 10. Is there specific application needed to run for that? On my system. I use Logitech Option for my Logitech mouse and I can set middle button to "Close Window".

He's referring to a third party app called 7+ Taskbar, which has an option to close app with middle click.

Yes, that's a feature from 7+ Taskbar which extends the functionality of Windows 10 taskbar. Unfortunately it's incompatible with Windows 11, but part of the features are available in Start11, such as seconds in clock.
