Taskbar Customization

I installed the Stardock software to use the 30-day trial before buying. Overall I liked it, even though there is A LOT I can do and feels a little overwhelming :-) My primary issue with it was with the Taskbar customization. I REALLY like the capabilities, but when trying to make the changes:

  • It is slow to restart explorer to apply the change
  • It would only let me resize the Taskbar width under peculiar conditions despite what the options stated about a maximized or no maximized screen. This led to an issue with the taskbar being too narrow on my 2nd and 3rd monitors
  • Customizing the Start button is cool but it puts the icon off-center, which isn't a huge deal, but my OCD won't let me see passed it, LOL
  • There is an option to use a custom image as the Start button and it says it will automatically be resized but that didn't happen

Again, I like software and am glad there is someone out there developing this kind of stuff for us. Is there perhaps something I was doing wrong or are these known bugs/issues that are being worked on. Any guidance on this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. It is best if you could mentioned which Stardock software you're referring to. I assume it is Start11v2, yes?

  • Restarting explorer do take sometimes for it to be unloaded and reloaded. How slow is it? Seconds?
  • Resizing taskbar can be done individually on each monitors. You will need to set the size of your taskbar on each monitor. And I don't believe resized taskbar changed under Maximized or no maximized Windows.
  • Not sure about this one, please post a screenshot of this issue.
  • Custom Start button image need to have 3 state graphics stack vertically. Refer to this thread where Start button artist who design start buttons share their work: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/start_menu_buttons/search/.

It does not let me adjust any of the Taskbars except on my main monitor.

Primary Monitor Taskbar

Next one isn't adjustable and this is how it looks on the second and third monitor. And look at the Date/Time at the bottom, they're tiny and crunched.

I just realized it's the rounded corners option for the taskbar that SEEMS to be buggy and making my taskbar act like it does in the above screenshots. When I turned that feature off I was able to adjust all 3 of them and everything centers up.

Perhaps Start11 was not properly installed. Please try these steps, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), redownload the installer Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

The rounded taskbar feature is not compatible with vertical taskbars.
