Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly...

" Fences has detected that Explorer was not closed properly. As a precaution, Fences has been temporarily disabled."

It seems this is not a new issue, but it just recently started ocuring on my laptop following a Windows 11 update.

I have tried the various troubleshooting steps from past threads, but no luck.

Has there been a new solution found to this error message?

Upon further investigation, the issues seems to relate to one specific portal, which causes the crash.

Other portals from a common folder location work fine, but this specific one can't be created on my desktop and if navigated to in a portal, causes the error message.

Thoughts?

Hi, can you submit the report to us by going to About, Troubleshooting, Upload Error Report? Our team can take a look and see what they find.

Does it crash every time you try to make that specific folder portal?

Hi, thanks for the quick follow up.

I'm still running an older version of Fences, v3.1.6, and don't see an option for Troubleshooting or Error Report under About.

I'm actually unable to create the portal for this folder; screen goes black, then reappears with no new fence. I can create a portal for the parent folder, but when I navigate to the issue folder from within the portal, it causes a crash.

Hi bden,

Unfortunately there are a variety of compatibility problems with Windows 11 with v3 since 24H2. We unfortunately do not have support for v3 as it is very much out of date. A trial is available for new v6, which we've been releasing major versions of every year and a half or so to both introduce new abilities and to keep up to date with Windows changes. Hopefully you'll be able to take a look.
