Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid..

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid..

This may be old news, but first I've heard of it.

On Friday, the FBI made public a far-reaching proposal that would require all broadband Internet providers to rewire their networks (at their own expense) to support easy wiretapping by police. If approved as drafted, the proposal could dramatically expand the scope of the agency's wiretap powers and raise costs for cable broadband companies. The 85-page filing includes language asserting that new services lacking a back door for law enforcement would be outlawed. The proposal is sure to be the subject of polarized debate, especially in this election year.

I know the link has a .com.com on it, but it really does go to ZDNET. It's not a spoof.

What I said is exactly true. We have been dependent on oil for how many years? It's only the wacko leftists that constantly blame Bush for everything because they have no real solution. We had 8 terrible years of an appeaser for a President that bought the same oil from the same people we always have. What did they democrats do....nothing as usual except complain.

Enviro-terrorists are embraced by the left as they embrace most extremists and dictators. They have no problem setting SUV's on fire, because only the "evil rich" can afford them.

Let me correct myself though. They offer no "reasonable" alternatives besides conservation. Conservation is useless and will never solve anything.

He pulled out of the same exact agreement which the USA was the leader or creating which would limit global impact. He has an Environmental record that is bleak if anything to put it nicely.

The question was, "what does Bush have to do with global warming?" If global warming does isn't, which most likely it doesn't, Bush has nothing to do with it. Don't start with the "his oil buddies" tin hat theory.

Yes I made some typo's. I can't fix it for reason.

Oh dear Lord.......thou should not engage in a battle of wits with the unarmed....

Conservation is useless because people will not participate is conservation the way it's intended. If everyone in America recycled and conservated that would be great, and it would work. Reality sets in.....people are not going to conserve. Do you really believe that enough people would do it to make it work?

Half-arsed attempts at conservation naturally won't work.....however the assertion was that conservation would not work....which is just plain wrong.

You are right Jafo. I didn't mean to imply that conservation itself would not work. I meant it would not work because people just wouldn't do it.

island dog.....currently Australia is suffering water restrictions.....and people MUST 'conserve' or perish.....we are the driest continent on the planet.....and water reserves have never been lower.

Sometimes you will find that you HAVE TO rely on real conservation.

Actually conservation is always on my mind. I live in a rural area of Florida, where we all rely on wells. Several years ago they announced that the aquifer is running low and that we must start conserving and looking for new sources of water. Has anyone conserved...no. Has anyone looked for new sources of water....well we do live around a lot of salt water, but nobody has proposed the idea of that.

I see first hand that people in general just do not want to conservate, even though it's very important they do. That was my whole point.

island dog, I can understand where you are coming from, seriously. But it is just as an extream position on the oppsite side of the issue though.

"Sounds like a natural cycle in locus population, probably exacerbated by the prior draught - the same as often unfortunately happens in Africa. The locus population ticks over in lean times, and explodes quickly when crops are available. Why, what does it sound like to you? A biblical plague caused by the wrath of God?"

Sput! That is exactly what I thought! I have never really heard of locusts doing anything like that and now, all of a sudden, it's mentioned several times in the news! Call me naive (among other things) but it scared me! Thanks for the explanation, you and Jafo, it puts my mind at ease.

Oh boy...

/me is sooooo tempted to bite here and "recycle" all the information I dug up on the funding for the research which Bush has used to brow beat what suites his views through on the rest of the world etc.

I'm walking away...remembering that there are non so blind as those that choose not to see...

#5 by MGiff - 3/16/2004 2:30:57 AM I'm torn. 9-11 hurt me bad, I don't want to see that happen again and I read that those guys were communicating a lot on the internet. BUT would these capabilities have led the FBI to them?

Honestly, I believe that the best real weapon against terrorism and criminals in general is freedom.

By that I mean that there has to be a point where you will NOT go and, quite frankly, just rather die than give it up. You can catch a criminal in many ways, but if your also catching people who are innocent then it really not worth it.

Lets face the fact that some will get away. The reality is that people who do bad things get caught sooner or later anyway. Terrorist are not exactly liked by normal criminals and tend to get turned over buy them. Not to mention the fact that terrorist tend to destroy themselves and sadly the community they come from.

.... blah blah.. I am too tired for this stuff.
