Severe delay issue in Fences 6

By Basj's request, I'm creating my own topic on this delay issue I'm having with Fences 6.

I'm experiencing major delays when launching Internet shortcut links or folders from a Fence group. There is a solid 30 second delay from the time I click these links to the time the action actually occurs. During this time my mouse pointer changes to a sand timer, and I wait. The funny thing is that I have one Fence group that holds the "Computer" and "Trash Bin" icons, as well as shortcuts to applications, and when I click to launch these, there is no delay at all.

The troubleshooting efforts I have tried include turning Fences off, then back on, uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as activating and deactivating various features in Fences. I've included a link to an example video to demonstrate.

Hi Geed thanks for posting this.

So to be clear, if you move the folder icon outside of a Fence this does not occur? (Or from troubleshooting, steps, sound like it does regardless of where it in on desktop?)

Sounds like you've tried turning Fences off with the "Enable Fences" checkbox, and it still happens when disabled?

Similar question – if you disable Fences, and then log off and back on, does it occur then?

There's a difference between disabling it while running, and disabling it then restarting, so it gives information to know whether there's a difference between the two.

We don't have guesses yet as to why this is occuring – but would like to get to the bottom of it for sure

Yes, I have pulled shortcuts outside of the Fence groups, onto the desktop and the delay remains.

I've disabled Fences, rebooted, and the problem also remains, which makes me think it may not be a Fences issue, but this delay did not begin until after I installed Fences and it doesn't help that in one Fence group the shortcuts launch fine with no delay. I've also temporarily moved a shortcut from one Fence group to the Fence group with no delay; however, the moved shortcut continues to experience the same delay issue.

UPDATE: I've noticed that when I access the Fenced folder shortcuts directly via Windows Explorer, the delay also exists there as well. Also, any sub-folder or link within also experiences the delay. However, if I access that same folder via a 3rd party File Management application, the delay is NOT there.

I've found a workaround. All of the files and shortcuts stored in my Fence groups were located in my C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Desktop. I removed my current Fences, relocated this Desktop folder to a different drive that is not synced with OneDrive, then recreated my Fences using those newly relocated files. I also turned off OneDrive sync with my Desktop. This solved the delay issue.

Now I'm beginning to think this could be a OneDrive issue, instead of Fences, however I can't be positive because other files stored in my OneDrive do not exhibit the delay if accessed outside of Fences or my Desktop.
