KVM has stopped working

Hi Guys,

I have an issue that has just started this morning when, KVM is stopped seeing my PC in the KVM settings, I have tried adding it manually and when I run the test I get the message

'Multiplicity was able to connect to the computer, but your encryption key setting is incorrect.  The key must be the same.'

It is, I can use seamless fine!!

Please advise....

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information.

  1. Windows version and OS Build numbers on all system.
  2. Multiplicity versions installed on all system.
  3. What changed between last it working and now? System updates/Upgrade? Network setting change etc.

Thank you

Hi Basj,

Both PC's are Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351)
MP are both Ver 4.01 Pro

Nothing to my knowledge changed, the main PC I turn off at night the other PC runs 24/7 (accept restarts with updates etc)

I turned of the main PC last night and restarted this morning and the issue occurred.  I restarted the satellite PC after I noticed the issue to know joy.

I’m seeing the same issue as Dave, same Windows 11 24H2 build and Multiplicity 4.01 Pro on both PCs. After a restart, I get the “encryption key setting is incorrect” message, even though seamless still works and the key hasn’t changed.

Tried the guide, no luck. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

If you purge \ reinstall on each PC (at least 2):

https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1347158073/Multiplicity+purging+and+re-installing

...rebooting each after

Reinstall from your account page

Use the absolute basic encryption key and passcode (like 1234567, type basic), does it work then?

Firstly I would try using the 4.05 beta thats available in your downloads for both machines.

Also what antivirus package are you using as perhaps it is interfering with something.

A quick test here between two Win11 boxes (primary current, secondary Win11 canary channel) isn't showing a problem with KVM connections so it doesn't seem to be a global issue.

I would also be interested in knowing if task manager processes tab is showing the multiplv64 process running or not after attempting a connection.

Finally are you using IPv6 or v4 on your network and is this wired or wireless as we had a report of some oddness with someone using a wifi 5Ghz channel vs 2.4 which made no sense but sounds similar in a way.

Also what exact CPUs are in use for both primary and secondary computers?

Hi Neil

Antivirus is Windows own

CPU Primary Ryzen 9 9950X Secondary is Ryzen 9 6000HX

I can't see multiplv64 in Task Manager.

My network is hardwired on both PC's and both on the same Network.

Where can I find the beta version please?

I'll try Sean's suggestions today.

Good news, uninstalling multiplicity off both PC's and reinstalling using basic keys, it's all working again. |-)
