New Docs and Folders

Not Show on Desktop

I don't have a second desktop for windows, and I don't have pages activated in fences. I only have (18) icons on my desktop, a few shortcuts for apps, folders, or simple text docs. Now when I create any new text docs or folders, they physically don't show on my desktop, yet you can see then in the windows desktop folder.

Win 11 with latest updates, Fences 5.89 rev 3.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know few things.

  1. Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Do you have OneDrive desktop Sync turn on?

Thank you,

If you disable Fences, do you see your newly create files/icons on the desktop?

If yes, see if you have setup Fences rules to send new desktop file to specific Fence and see if that Fence appear on your desktop.

Thank you,

1. This exactly the case, it was putting all new icons under my Gaming fence, but I never set fences to do this, it just made the change on its own.

2. I have one other non-related issue, and I'm not sure if there is a fix or setting for this, I have (4) fences, one of them organizes alphabetically, the other (3) are set to nothing, I like arranging them in my own order. The problem comes whenever explorer crashes, they get scramble, or sometimes when I restart or shutdown my PC, on desktop load they are scrambled. I either need a way to lock them or save a backup of the file that stores the layout.

Not sure on this one, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

I have to assume that somewhere within appData folder or Fences install Dir that there must be a file that contains the position of icons, a simple copy/paste of a backup file would do the job.
