Fence scaling breaks between monitors of the same resolution with different desktop scaling

I have my computer connected to two displays, one a 4K monitor and the other a 4K television that are never on simultaneously. For work, I sit at the desk with a resolution scale of 150%. For gaming, I use software to enable the TV at 200% display scaling, make it my primary display, and disable my monitor. The "preserve my desktop layout by scaling my fence groups" feature does not work in this scenario, the fences become unanchored from the screen edges and moved around. Same happens if I swap the displays manually, seems like something about the display scaling is messing with Fences. Is there a solution to this in a setting I'm not aware of or is this a known thing? For now I've saved snapshots for both displays to restore as needed, but that's very tedious.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number. Use Winver.exe to get those numbers.
  2. Fences full version number.

Thank you.

Hi klobgoblin,

The "scale my Fence groups" option is obsolete and has been replaced as of Fences v5.5 (as well as in v6). We recommend using the new default option "Store my layout on a per-monitor-configuration basis". The old scaling option did not perform well when switching back and forth between different DPI, and it operated particularly poorly on multi-monitor systems. The new system was designed from the ground up to support such use cases. It's available for users of v5 (latest releases) and v6.
