EXTREME lag in Brave browser

I want to love this software.  I do.  But I have extreme lag in Brave on two different computers.  I know it's Multiplicity because as soon as I disable it, it's fixed.  Instantly.  Won't happen again until I re-enable Multiplicity and sometimes it's 10 minutes, sometimes a few hours, but it will come back.  No amount of reboots/close reopen software/etc. will fix it.

Anyone have this problem and have a fix?  I do NOT want to deal with Symless again!

Hello,
I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

While waiting need few more details.

  1. Multiplicity full version number.
  2. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number.
  3. Issue while in Seamless mode or KVM mode?
  4. Brave stop working in the primary PC or on the secondary?

Thank you,

Thank you, Basj!!!

Multiplicity 4.01 Pro

Win 11 Pro 24H2 26100.3915

Issue while in Seamless mode

Both computers match this info above

Brave stop working in the primary PC or on the secondary?  It doesn't stop working, but it almost does.  It becomes VERY sluggish.  Clicks take forever to process.  Using the keyboard is almost impossible as you'll start typing in the address bar for example, and it will take 10-15 seconds before it starts typing on the screen.  Again, this can and will be on either and if I shut down Multiplicity on the affected PC, it will INSTANTLY return to normal operation.  Rebooting the affected computer will "solve" the issue for a bit.  May be 10 minutes, maybe 4-5 hours, but it WILL return.

I did not have this issue in 4.0.0.2 (I think it was that version.  Just ever since)

Do you have the same issue with other browsers, such as Chrome, Firefox etc? Also, possible compatibility issue with specific brave addon. Try Brave in private mode, do you the same issue?

Chrome is such a security nightmare, I don't use it.  Chromium, yes.  Chrome, no.  But can try if that will help resolve the issue with Brave.

I'll try Firefox and see if it does the same as described with Brave and see

Edge would be a fair test as well.

However, with Brave, when you see this issue, if you kill (via task manager) Brave, then restart it, does it function fine then (I suspect it will)?

Thank you for the reply.  I have battled this issue daily for months and now that I reached out, it stopped happening.  Killing Brave and restarting it would not help.  The only way was to fully reboot at which time it would be fixed, but for how long was anyone's guess.  I'm almost positive it would not happen in Opera GX.  Let me poke at this some more.  Maybe an update (Windows?/Brave?/Multiplicity?) took care of it?  Again, let me thrash this some more and see if it happens.  Thanks again

Stopping Brave via task manager does the same to Brave as rebooting.

I know it should.  It makes no sense to me either.  This has been tested many times and the result is always the same.  Kill every brave process, relaunch, same issue.  Again, I know what it should do, but it doesn't.

Just to reassure you, you're not the only one who has noticed this. Do you have hardware acceleration turned on? If so, try stopping it. Otherwise, try the beta Brave browser or switch browser to Vivaldi, Firefox or Arc.

Oh wonderful!  I will try the beta and let you know.  Thanks again!

Just installed it myself.

Edit: Folks in Brave's forums are discussing it's slowness. Might be tied to its VPN?

Anyway the beta isn't affected.
