Can't connect to secondary computer

Claims my network has been set to public

Hello

For some time I have been using Multiplicity 3 to connect to a secondary computer and it has all been working fine. Within the last month or two this has become extremely unreliable, and sometimes I am unable to connect at all. When I go to the secondary computer (which is running Windows 11 24H2) and run multiplicity there it pops up a message saying "Your network has been set to a public network and this will usually block Multiplicity from working correctly".

As far as I can see, though, this is not the case. I'm connecting over a wired ethernet connection, and looking at the properties in Network & internet this is clearly marked as a private network. The computer has a wifi adapter, but this is currently off and I have no VPN set up.

I have bought multiplicity 4 but, unfortunately, I'm unable to install it on the primary computer. Our ICT department use an atrocious piece of AV software called Cylance, which throws up more false positives than a dodgy lateral flow test, and it is this that is preventing the installation. So, I'm stuck with version 3 for now. I see there's been at least one other person having issues with 24H2 - could this be related?

Many thanks for any help you can provide.

John

If it were functionality issues, this would be a clear case of us needing to work with you on it more closely.  Since it's seemingly a network one, I am curious what your IT people would have to say about what all might have changed other than (or because of) the Windows version.  Have you reached out to them at all since this started?

What you may want to try is rewriting the firewall rules on ALL MP PCs:

With a reboot after.
