Is there a memory leak in the new Start11 that causes explorer to gobble up memory when the computer is at the lock screen for several hours?
Since installing Start11 2.5 I've noticed that explorer.exe has gobbled up memory when the computer has been left at the lock screen for several hours or overnight. I can't say that the recent Start11 update is at fault. Because several things in my setup changed two weeks ago at the same time I installed the Start11 2.5 update. I've also been installing the betas for Start11 2.5 and that hasn't helped. I can't say Start11 is to blame for the memory leak. But it's increasingly likely the cause.
System is Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2894). Currently running the Start11 2.5.2.0 j201 beta version. System has 32MB RAM. Intel i9-12900H mini PC using integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics.
Dual monitor setup with one 4K (3840x2160) display and one 1920x1200 display. The 4K display is one of the things that is new two weeks ago.
I don't run any other Windows customization tools or visual tweaks other than Start11 and mostly stock Windows visual settings. I don't even have Start11 enhance the taskbar. The reason I have Start11 is just for the better start menu. I don't make use of the taskbar enhancements. My setup is boring. And that's how I like it.
Normally the Windows Explorer process runs at around 200-something MB memory used (according to Task Manager).
Right now Windows Explorer is using 662 MB after having been at the lock screen for several hours today. If I restart explorer the memory use will be back down to below 200 MB.
Since installing Start11 2.5 there have been times I've come back to the computer after being at the lock screen for 12 hours and Windows Explorer is using over 2000 MB of memory and lagging very badly.
