Fences 4 Peek not working

Hey everyone,

I've been using Fences for a few years now, was introduced when Fences 3 launched and i upgraded to Fences 4. I haven't been having any issues though recently the Win+Space "Peek" option stopped working. I'm on Windows 11 24H2 (build 26100.2605) and Fences Version 4.22. I have tried to run the Fences Purge bat file, and tried to clear all references to Stardock off of my system, reboot and start from scratch and no go, I've confirmed that the services are in the Task Scheduler and that Animation effects are on. NONE of the suggestions have helped.

My system is a Lenovo laptop, Intel i7-12700H, 16.0 GB of RAM, with a Quadro T600 (currently running Version 566.03 drivers)

Any thoughts to get this going again would be amazing without upgrading to Fences 5 would be preferable (i'm not pleased with the ridiculous subscription method that Stardock has adopted).

Thanks!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. This is known issue on Fences 4 on Windows 11 24H2. Would like to suggest doing the 30 days trial on Fences 5 and see if the issue also appear there.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have same issue. I have tested also with Purge and Fences 5. I have win 11 animations on.

I have tested second laptop with clean win11 and new fences 4 installation.

Screenshot(from second laptop) before peek:

Screenshot during peek:

On first PC peek behaves same with the difference that icons from some folder portals are showing on top without background. And normal fences are invisible.

Windows 11: 24H2 26100.2894

Fences: 4.22

From what I know, Fences 4 has stop major development ever since Fences 5 released.

But afaik this should be bug not feature request? Is there any ticket in your JIRA tracking this bug? If not could you submit one?

As mentioned the issue is known to Support and Dev as can be seen here: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/2093482017/Fences+4+Peek+Feature+on+Windows+11+24H2. It is recommended to for Fences 4 user to upgrade to Fences 5 that has no issue with Peek Feature on Windows 11 24H2.

From what I know, there is no more new development on Fences 4, as mentioned above, you should upgrade to Fences 5 or now Fences 6. Or, you can revert back to Windows 11 v23H2.

They knew about this issue early on but had no intention of fixing it; instead, they pressured their users to buy the more expensive version! This company has never respected its users. I purchased a bunch of software from them, and in the face of such shameless behavior, I can only turn to using pirated versions.

Just a heads-up: the peek issue in Fences 4 is actually caused by changes introduced in Windows 11. If you'd prefer to keep using Fences 4, you can—just consider rolling back to an earlier version of Windows 11 where it worked smoothly.
However, if you'd rather stay aligned with the latest updates in Windows 11, it's a good idea to move forward with the newest version of Fences. Stardock is actively developing Fences to keep it compatible with Windows 11’s ongoing changes, and as we all know, continued development requires funding and support.
