Questions about uploading a skin

I almost finished with a MAJOR reworking of my Prairie School Window Sysmetrix theme. I called the company four times to request a discussion about the copyright issue; I left messages; they never had the courtesy to call me back. So, that was that. A lesson learned. My revision is a horizontal format that fits nice and snug along gef's Azul at the top of my screen, though the colors aren't really matching. I uploaded it to my profile for a preview peek.

Anyway, I have some questions..... First, I've been using the original file from one of SS GOKU's themes. So, how do I remove his name and put in my own? I cannot find it anywhere in the script file. Does this happen automatically when the file is zipped? I can't imagine how that would work.

Another question is how do I know that the text within the skin will work on others' computers? I know that I always have to "fix" text on themes when I download them. Otherwise, they're either too large or out of place or both. Will that be the case with the theme I upload?

And finally, I would imagine that maybe someone from Stardock would quick test a theme to be sure it works before approving it. At least for us newbies. I know that it would make me feel better knowing that my theme would work on others' computers. Is this the case? If not, would someone be willing to test my theme? Maybe give me some pointers?

TIA (feeling a bit nervous.....)

I don't know about if it is tested before being accepted, but I would be more than happy to test it for you.

1) The esiest way to create a SysMetrix skin is to start from scratch rather than from an existing skin. Right click on the SysMetix, then click on SysMetrix Configuration. When the window opens, click on Theme Settings from the left menu. Then click on the Create New Theme button and start from there. If you already made a skin using a existing file, follow the same steps, only this time instead of clicking Create New Theme, just replace the author's information.

2) To make sure the font you used for your skin works in other computers, check the skin folder before you zip it to see if the font is added, if you do not see the font file in the skin folder, go to your font folder and do a 'copy' 'paste' of the font into the skin folder.

3) A moderator may or may not test the skin before it is posted, but you can always email anyone and ask them to test it for you.

If you send me the file I can test it and give you my oppinion

Sir Kongit, thanks for the offer to test it, though I'll send it to A-67. The reason I'm not sure about the fonts is that I have my display settings to 1280 on a 17" screen. Then, I have enlarged the fonts so I can read the dang thang. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford a new monitor. Maybe even a whole new computer.

A-67, all I can say is DOH!! I just never figured out how to change the name. Theme Settings. And, "Start From Scratch". What a concept. Go figure......... I have a bit more work to do on it, then I'll take you up on your offer to preview it. I just really don't want to upload something that's all screwed up. These things can happen, ya know.....
