Start11 Adjusting pinned Folders

HI,

im currently playing around with the Trial and iam wondering, if its possible on the Win11 Taskbar, to align pinned Folders to the right.

What i mean, is, that the Icons is on the left and pinned Folders on the right. Adding custom Icons to a pinned Folder would be a neat Feature too. It would also be nice to use text instead of an icon, but it would also be handy to be able to apply a custom icon to it.

When i change the Icon on a Folder, the same default Icon remains on the Taskbar. I use the Win11 Style with Win10 at the moment.

I'm currently using Win 10 instead of Win 11. I would like to use the pinned Folders as an alternative to the custom Symbolsbar when i upgrade to Win11. I depend on these toolbars and have been using this feature since it was introduced through Win98SE.

Btw, Is it possible to change the Hotkey to Shift, instead of Ctrl to show the normal Windows Startmenu?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Here are answers on your questions.

  1. Pinned icons on the far right on the taskbar. Just like on Windows 10, yes? Unfortunately that is not possible.
  2. Change it to custom icon should be possible. Just right click on the pinned folder, right click again on the popup menu item on that folder->Properties->That folder properties open up select "Shortcut" tab->Change Icon.
  3. Not sure on "Symbols bar", elaborate more please.
  4. There is no option available to change Hotkey from Ctrl to Shift.

Thank you.

You have to change the icon of the folder before you pin it to the taskbar, or use the method Basj suggested.

I changed the Icon before adding it as a Folder. Just noticed, when i add the specific Folders to the Filter List and then add a pinned Folder and select one from the List, the Icon does not appear. When i add it by hand by searching for the Folderpath its working :)

With Symbolsbar i ment the Quick Launch and they were pinned to the right and im used to it.

I don't think Start11 can do what Symbolsbar does, but I would lilke to suggest using Stardock ObjectDock with its tabs dock. Need very little getting use to it but, I believe, it is far superior on customizing and ease of use. Its tabs can be move around and can be place right on top of your taskbar. Something like screenshot below.

The limits are really what you can find or convert into an ICO image file. You wont be able to stretch the icon space that is provided. But custom icons can be fun to explorer none the less.

Of course you could also request the feature and hope it is released in a future update.
