Bug in Start11?

When I log into Windows 11 24H2, I see that the Start button has a white border around it. I've never seen this in Windows 11 23H2. I’m using Start11 v2.11 and guess this might be a bug in the app?

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? I should add that this doesn't happen every time I log into Windows. It seems to occur sporadically. When I click the on a empty space on the desktop, the white border disappears.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I can not reproduce your issue on my system on Windows 11 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2033). Need more details on your system and issue.

  1. Windows 11 24H2 full build number. Please use Winver.exe to get the build number. Winver.exe come with all Windows installation.
  2. Just to confirm, the start button is not a custom start button, yes?.
  3. Any specific steps you take to force the issue to show up in your system?
  4. Start button and taskbar setting:
    1. Start button Center/Left Align?
    2. Taskbar size?
    3. Taskbar Start11 enhance turn on or off?
    4. Taskbar top or bottom?
    5. Taskbar autohide?

Thank you.

1. Windows 11 24H2 build: 26100.2152.
2. Windows default start button.
3. No specific task at the Windows start up.

4a. Start button: Center.
4b. Taskbar size: medium.
4c. Enhance turned on (needed to be on to have the start button aligned in the center position)
4d. Taskbar at the bottom.
4e. Taskbar not hidden.

This issue also happens on the final release of 24H2 (26100.1742)

Unfortunately, I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Here is what I get with my current setup.

To ensure Start11 was properly install/updated. Please try uninstall, reboot immediately after uninstall is done, re-download latest version from your account product download page. Install it. Reboot immediately again right after the installation is done. Retest it and report back.

That's the operating system focus indicator.  Start11 should be having no impact on that.

Good to hear that I'm not alone with this issue. For me this happens sporadically. It seems that Windows 11 focus indicator also affects on Start11?

Is there any way to disable the focus indicator in Windows 11?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I see the same white line around the Start button, but it remove itself and only appear for couple of seconds. Not sure how to make it reappear again. Also, I notice if I use Start11 custom Start button, the white box do not appear. Maybe you could try the Custom Start button part on your system and see if the while line don't appear in your system too.

Thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, that's the default Windows 11 start button.

What I understand from Dev comment in reply#4. That border is introduce by Windows itself. Not cause by Start11. What you can do is change the Start button and use Custom start button that look like the original Windows 11 start button.

You might need to look into Windows 11 setting to remove them.
