Unfortunately it did not help, I got a lot of errors telling mem "service not found and then the question "dele start8/10 which i answered"YES" then I haf the reboot message which i did, after start-up I started windows update to 11 which failed telling me that Start10 was the problem.

What you suggested is exactly what I did and after that I did the purge action asadvised before.

Nex step was updating Windows 10 to Windows 11 which crashed at 35% indicating that Start 10 should be the problem.

So I did a seach i the registry, no "Start10" found. checked with control panel - same result.

did another try and W11 stopped at 35% with the message: "StartIsBack++" cases the problem but that also is not found in the registry.

Then I contacted Microsoft Support, started a chat, they took over the system and did the same checks - found nothing.

After about 1 hoiur they dicided to give the problem to a "higher"technician who I can reach tomorrow.

I am sure the problem is in W11 and not in (your) Start software.

I'll let you know what happens next.

Typically this happens because you have a dual boot system where those files exist in the other install, or a backup of those directories somewhere.

Microsoft do not handle detection of software well and search every attached disk with no understanding of how to properly detect an app.  I do wish they would reach out to devs when they do that so we could tell them how to detect the software in the correct way.
