Taskbar icons picking up browser image rather than shortcut icon

In the image below you can see that the shortcut icon for the selected item is different from the displayed icon on the taskbar - which is picking up the webpage icon instead. Windows 11 displays it correctly.

Can this behaviour be changed?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  • Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe
  • Start11 full version number.
  • Need to confirm, your issue is with Edge Browser?

Thank you.

Windows 23H2 Build 22631.4037

Start 11 v2.1

This is an Edge site installed as an App and pinned to the taskbar and with a custom icon - so perhaps it is the fault of Edge.

(Not the most important of issues!)

How did you manage to do that.

This is a standard feature of both Chrome and Edge. In Edge you go to a website and then click the ... menu > Apps > Install this site as an App. It will open in its own window with none of the browser headers/menus, so a single window per app.

I know about the install as an App part. I just can't figure out how you do the Custom icons part. For example, if I open up Youtube, and do the install as an App on youtube. You will get the red with white triangle icon for that apps. How do you change that icon into something else?
