Hi Stardockers - My Fences 5.8 Experience

Hello there, long time user of Fences since v1 here, pleased to meet you!

I'm a creative (GFX/AUDIO/IT), a logical thinker and I've worked on some GUI/UX projects in the past.

Here's a few findings and suggestions.

1. Had instances of my entire layout and fences randomly revert to a previous state, no way to return, new layout lost.

2. Dragging an icon from one fence to another on a different page sometimes doesn't work it just disappears back to my default fence.

3. The Page number pills that appear bottom centre when changing are ugly, an option to remove entirely would be nice.

4. Subscription model and pricing, per instance/single machine install and licensing prices are simply out of line and untenable.

5. Page scrolling for touchpad users (not touch screen user), it would be well suited to a two or multi finger drag but it doesn't work (sustem defaults accepted)

6. I have an idea you may be interested in for a different graphical option/look that would involve minimal graphic overhead, is there a dev address I can send mockup to?

7. Lastly, and pertaining to the pricing too, V4 to V5 is an incremental update, a minor subrev even, chameleon, although interesting, is not a must have attractor (edit: I have come back to be brutally honest, it doesn't even look that good, visually - sorry guys), combine this with new pricing structure and single machine licesning and this looks and feels like a poorer proposition. You have to earn your crust, we get it, but this looks like a mis-setp.

All that said, I'm invested in the Fences way of life, one of the most useful QOL utilities I've ever used, it's been with me and will continue to be with me forever I'm sure. But pleasedon't take that for granted with all releases.

Cheers

I have been using Fences 5 for a while now and still don't actually use Chameleon at all. I don't think it was ever a very good selling point.

I am optimistic with with some of the ideas floating around that maybe Fences 6 will have a better direction to go in.
