They have quite sharp pixel edges.. Any plans to make these smoother?

Unfortunately this is a limitation on how windows shapes things. Adjusting the corner radius may make it less visible and if you were on a higher dpi setup it wouldn't be visible at all.
If DPI was the issue then all of windows would have these rough edges. And it does not.
The other windows are handled by the OS differently and have shadows. That method is not viable for the taskbar unfortunately.
