Hovering over an ungrouped Chrome taskbar icon shows a summary of all Chrome windows, not of the tabs open within that window

Hovering over an ungrouped taskbar icon for a Google Chrome window displays a summary of all the open Chrome windows rather than previewing the tabs open within that Chrome window.

Is there a setting to change this please?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Full Windows version and OS build number. Please use Winver.exe
  2. Start11 full version number.
  3. If on Windows 11, Start11 Taskbar enhance turned on or off. Taskbar combine button state of choice?
  4. Post a video of the issue would also help us understand your issue better.

Thank you.

1. Windows 11 Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.525)

2. Start11 v2.08

3. Taskbar enhance turned on. Combining set to 'sometimes' for both displays.

4. I don't have a video of the issue but I took a screenshot at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18OSM8nb0FyrJh7VZeB_xDKTd0BGFMMHy/view?usp=sharing showing what it looks like if you hover over any of the icons in the taskbar for the Chrome Windows.

For example, in the taskbar 'Book review: Decluttering at t...' represents a Chrome window with 9 open tabs.  In Windows 10, if you hovered over that icon, the preview would preview the tabs from that window.

In this case, hovering over any icon is giving a preview of the 5 Chrome windows that are listed in the taskbar, rather than the tabs for that window.

Hopefully that's clearer.

Thanks.

  1. Any reason you're not updating to the latest Windows 11 version 23H2 yet? Please update your Windows first.
  2. Okay.
  3. Okay
  4. I can not get to your screenshot, got "Access denied". Do know that you can paste picture in the forum by using one of these two buttons    .

Thank you,

Thanks, I've updated Windows. The issue is still persisting. Information is now:

Windows 11 Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.4037, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1027.0)

2. Start11 v2.08

3. Taskbar enhance turned on. Combining set to 'sometimes' for both displays.

4. I don't have a video of the issue but I took a screenshot showing what it looks like if you hover over any of the icons in the taskbar for the Chrome Windows.

Behaviour of mouseover with Google Chrome icons in taskbar

For example, in the taskbar 'Book review: Decluttering at t...' represents a Chrome window with 9 open tabs.  In Windows 10, if you hovered over that icon, the preview would display that window's tabs.

In this case, hovering over any icon is giving a preview of the 5 Chrome windows that are listed in the taskbar, rather than the tabs for that window. Is there a way to make it behave like it used to in Windows 10?

Thanks.

This is what I get on my system. Look to me its the same as what I see on my Windows 10. It actually 3 tabs opened. Only 2 show up in the preview popup. Also note, my Windows is 23H2. Not sure if that is the reason.
