Upgrade pricing is odd

What's the point in paying 3x the price for a non-sub licence if you still have to upgrade when the next version comes out in a year?

So, I upgraded to v4 in February 2023.  I must've missed that a v5 came out not too long after, maybe that fixes my w11 issues.  It seems very expensive for something that's just used to tidy my desktop up - especially something that doesn't do it as well as v3 used to (what with flickering, and frequent resizing / repositioning / positional snapping that's a bit off)
...my options to upgrade to v5 that is *maybe* a little better is £7.99 / year or £28.99 flat-out.  Which will probably be replaced by v6 in a year.
It doesn't feel great as a customer to have to keep re-buying a relatively small tool.  Especially if it seems to punish people who prefer permanent licences over subscriptions.

I just realised I complained about this earlier in the year already, disregard.  Nobody cares, and references to alternatives are blotted out.  I'll just stick with the bugs in 4 until it finally annoys me enough to just uninstall.  The actual positioning and sizing of fences is somewhat janky, esp. if you do certain kinds of layouts.

Ah well, it's been a nice run Stardock.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. If you review Fences history here: https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/history. Fences 4 was out in late 2021. And Fences 5 was release late 2023. Hence Fences 4 has been around 2-3 years. As for, will Fences 5 be upgrade to Fences 6 and the need to upgrade to it, that all depend on how Windows 12 changes.

Lots of user still running Fences 4 on current Windows 11 version without issue. For your issue on Fences 4, you can always do 30 days trial on Fences 5 and see if the new layout engine available in Fences v5.54 and later help on your issue, then you can decide if it worth for your upgrade.

I believe discount price only given for Subscription base purchase. You can click the "Upgrade" link and input your email address, it should tell you if you're entitle for discount or not from there.

So, the upgrade to Fences 5 was in the back end of 2021 and I upgraded to 4 in February 2021 because 3 was janky nagging me and 4 promised to fix some stuff in W10... Which it kinda hasn't.  I've since upgraded to W11 and Alignment isn't great, scaling icons seems laggy... ugh.  It's not an application that warrants a subscription service.
