Fences Subscription vs Object Desktop Subscription

Greetings. While reviewing my Stardock software, I noticed that my Fences subscription may actually be included if I upgrade that to an Object Desktop subscription. Is this correct? Will the Object Desktop subscription include future release upgrades for the included software? Fences, the more critical piece of the suite, is the one I am keenly concerned about.

Hello,

Yes, Fences is included in Object Desktop subscription, for more on Object Desktop please refer here: https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/. https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/ and here: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1496285185/What+is+an+Object+Desktop+%26+Subscription+Software.

Also, do know Object Desktop come with up to 5 active installs. And it also support ARM base devices.

Thank you.

OK, and is there a seamless method to switching that subscription from Fences to Object Desktop? Or will I need to cancel one and subscribe to the other?

I believe you should click on the "Get it now" button under the "Upgrade" column : refer screenshot below (red arrow).

I'm curious how this works myself and am not fully clear in this thread yet.

So if I have an active Fences subscription and instead wanted an active Object Desktop subscription.

And

If I were to use the upgrade Object Desktop option with the discounted price by using my Fences subscription would I then be left with....

1. Just one subscription because the Fences subscription is now upgraded to a Object desktop one instead

Or

2. Two active subscriptions. One for Fences and a new one for Object Desktop. Therefore, one would need to be canceled.

Yes.  As basj has noted, we've sought to detail such answers to questions regarding Object Desktop subscriptions in our Stardock Help Center documentation article below.  If you have questions regarding this and would like further clarification on how this works, please let us know.

As this works currently, you'll want to cancel your Fences subscription once you've purchased Object Desktop.  To verify the status of any of your subscriptions through your Stardock account, please see the following page:

Greetings and Salutations! My apologies for coming back to an old topic, but I have encountered a relevant issue. I have a current and active ObjectDesktop subscription, and I use Fences (extensively). In fact, Fences is why I started using Stardock software in the first place and why I continue to pay for it. It's my understanding that as part of my OD subscription, Fences is included, yet it says my license has expired. I've attempted to log in w/ my old Fences5 key, as well as my current OD subscription key, but I was told they were expired/invalid. I'm unsure what to do here, and I very much would appreciate some guidance on how to resolve this situation.

Need to be clear, your Fences subscription has expired, or no? And as you mentioned your Subs for ObjectDesktop still active, yes? If so which license key did you use to activated your Fences? If you use your ObjectDesktop license key, and still having invalid activation issue, perhaps you have reach maximum activation (5x) in your ObjectDesktop for Fences. Please use this guide to review and manage your activation.

https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1260191763/How+to+review+and+manage+your+current+activations

If you see that Fences has 5 activation slots used up, you need to deactivate some old unuse activation.

Thanks, basj, for getting back to me so quickly. To be clear, my Fences 5 key now reports as expired when I try to use it. My ObjectDesktop subscription is still valid and active. I tried to use my OD Key in my Fences 5 installation, and it said the key was invalid. Can I install the latest Fences6 demo on top of Fences5 and use my current OD key? Do I need to remove Fences 5 first completely? What about my configuration? Will that be saved/remembered? To be honest, when I switched from just a Fences subscription to an OD subscription, I may have already had Fences 5 installed and thought nothing of it at the time.

If your ObjectDesktop subscription still active you should be able to download, install and activate Fences 6, by using Object Desktop activation key.

It is best to remove Fences 5 first, and reboot the system before installing Fences 6 and reboot again. Fences 6 will use back your configuration for Fences 5. Unless, you choose to remove setting while uninstalling Fences 5.
