New router

Multiplicity does not work now

I got a new router and now Multiplicity does not work.  The SSID is the same.   I have verified the passcode in the settings on the secondary, but it is still not working.   Any ideas?  Thank you.

Are there any other options for support where someone could stream in to my computer and figure out what is going on?

It seems to be connected but I can't move the mouse to the secondary computer.

No, Stardock do not do direct connect support to user PC. For the "Can't move the mouse to secondary" issue please review some other guide mentioned in the FAQ: https://forums.stardock.com/486104/multiplicity-support-faq.

Here is some guide that might help.

Thank you,

Ugh!  All the typing and waiting for a reply and just posting links is not helpful.

I just renewed it thinking that may help, but it still doesn't work.

I have both PCs connected by Cat 5 to the router, turn off firewall on both.  Still doesn't work.

Oh, and also rebooted the PCs and the router.

Oh, it also shows Multiplicity as disconnected in the system tray.

Is this a Cable modem or Gateway with modem and router integrated?

If you can still connect the old equipment, do so, and see if it works.

If it does, login to the settings and make a note of all the network settings.

Then connect the new equipment and verify the network settings are the same.

It could also be an issue with your Windows Network settings.

Hi pelaird.   There is an Adtran modem where the internet enters the house.   From the modem it goes to a Calyx router.   It is not cable.

I rent the equipment from the telcom and they took the old router, so I can not hook it back up.

As for the Windows Network settings, I have it set to private on both the primary computer and secondary laptop.

Any help is appreciated.

Routers can be tricky to set up. My knowledge is limited, but I would suggest checking the router settings.

@basj When will I hear back from someone at Stardock?  Are they done vacationing yet?   I need to either get this fixed or get my money back.

  • Windows version/hardware specs

Windows 10 Pro - 64bit

AMD A10Pro, 8GB RAM

  • Has the app ever worked - Yes
  • If you are getting an error, what is that error - No error messages, but Multiplicity shows as disconnected in the system tray on the primary computer.
  • Exact steps to reproduce the issue, perhaps with screenshots/video to help illustrate your issue
    • I turn on the computer like I usually do and I can not move the mouse to the secondary computer.  It stops at the edge.
  •
    • Multiplicity shows in the taskbar as disconnected.

Maybe call tech support with the telcom who leases you the equipment.

Thanks pelaird.   I was able to find a free app that works great!   No longer going to use Multiplicity.   I appreciate your responses and suggestions!
