4.22 fences snapshot does not restore after display driver install

Just as the title suggest. Layout of fences will not restore after GPU driver updates.

This has persisted over the last two releases 4.2 & 4.1.06 before that it was intermittent sometimes it would and sometimes not.

x570 | 3900x | 6900XT | 32GB 3600 | Win 11 pro ver. 22H2 | 3 monitor set up (2-2k 1-4k)

I have tried taking an extra snapshot before display driver update otherwise Fences takes a daily snapshot automatically.

I have tried clearing out the folder that contains the snapshot.

I just recently added the 3rd monitor (4k) but as mentioned above this has been a persistent bug for many iterations of Fences 4.

If I unplug one of two monitors all fences move to remaining monitor. After restarting 2nd monitor restore works fine.

The bug seems isolated to after a display driver update.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe this issue is known issue for sometimes. And, recently Fences v5 latest version has something that might work better for people with this kind of issue. More on this here: https://forums.stardock.com/527284.

  • Multi-monitor enhancements

    • image-20240410-184852.png
    • Updated scaling improvements for beta multi-monitor configuration enhancements

    • Additional improvements to multi-monitor detection and selection

    • New ability for icon/group layouts to adapt intelligently to changing multi-monitor conditions

Thank you.

Thank You for the reply and suggestions. I see the setting in 4.22 as well and have changed it now, but it will have to wait until my next driver update to test and see if it works. Default has always work well in the past.

I also reset saved settings by clicking on the reset dialog below the setting and I'm hoping this helps.

I should have mentioned in the OP that I have the same issue on my Gamer with and Nvidia GPU and it does the same thing after a display driver install.

If these settings work I will report back to let others know.
